I've often wondered what American royalty would look like. What if George Washington created a royal family. This family would be very different from European royalty. They probably would not control the government but would be similiar to British royalty. They would be picky as far as who married into the family but would not be as class conscious as other royalty. Upper middle class or wealth and a people who had a good record would be good enough.

It would have probably started out a bit complicated since Washington didn't have any biological children, but it would probably have straightened out eventually. I think that it would be cool, though I wonder whether or not it would have lasted. It's a really interesting thought!

Royalty in the US is completely opposite of what the country was founded upon. You can't have royalty when your ideal is that all men are created equal. It's bad enough that that line was thrown in when slavery was still legal.
