The genealogy I had as I spoke of earlier was a really big help for me. However there many mistakes with the spelling of names and about three generations back a person was listed with his nickname. This name was nowhere to be seen in any record and I still have not found any proff that he used it except for the word of his wife to the person compileing the information at the time. This drove my brother and I crazy for about three months, thank, God for ibuprofen! I found many wonderful misteries start to come to live as the tree continued to grow and I found the father of most of the Chabot in Quebec. His name is Mathurin Chabot and he was born in Poitou, France. I found his father Jean Chabot and his mother Jeanne Rodé. In some places her last name is spelled Rodier. With the french language and the english mixing with it things get jumbled and sometimes your headed for what some like to call a train wreck. After finding Mathurin and his parents I hit a brick wall for about 6 months
