I have to admit, I don't really know that much about Queen Amélie, but I've become interested in her after reading Regina's fantastic biography over at The Royal Articles!

Like alex001, I didn't know much about Queen Amelie before reading Regina's article (magnificent work, by the way). Since then, I've become quite fascinated.
Actually, I'm reading a biography of Queen Amelie right now. So far, it's been a really great read; she was really a very interesting woman!

I am Portuguese, I love my country but unfortunately we are not a monarchy anymore.
I think it was a shame how they imposed the Republic in Portugal, even without asking the opinion of the people... only by the will of those who wanted power.
Queen Dona Amelia was a suffered woman... she saw the death of the husband and eldest son, murdered in his presence... then comes the whole history of exile.
I'm now reading a historical novel based on the life in our last queen.
It is called "Amélia - the exiled queen who left his heart in Portugal" from Isabel Stillwell.
The book is fascinating...

I like a lot of Queen Amélia. And I know a lot about her.
