I think she should get a new hairstyle. Something other than the style she wears now.,

Amanda Wakley Spring 2011
Red/pink dress - I think this color would look good on Kate, the fit would suit her body shape & its quite a working dress.
Grey tweed dress - Very classic piece, I quite like the detailing down the front as it gives it a younger feel to the piece, To what it looks like it can be used as a collar or pulled down.
Creamy tweed dress with jacket - The dress is another great piece which could be worn with a colorful necklace to brighten it up but with the jacey it adds a more professional look, I also like it matched with a belt like this but could also be matched with a colored belt.
Hobbs Spring 2011
Green dress - Lovely for a reception or an evening event which requires a cocktail dress. All the detailing on it is lust lovely & very feminine.
Black dress - I like the simplicity of it & I think Kate being a simple dresser this would work very well. The detailing on the side is very interesting.
Skirt & matching jacket - I like the color & the cut. The jacket seems a bit boxy but it goes will with the straight cut skirt & Kate has the body to pull off box looks. This color could deb used anytime of the year.

I would love to see some of these hats on Kate which are by Philip Treacy spring 20111
This hat I would love to see on Kate but maybe in a different color.
This hat is lovely yet quite simple, I like the band/fabric going around. The color is lovely and could match it up with anything.
Also this hat which is great yet simple, the bow on top adds that extra touch, ideal for an event or wedding but in a different color.
Colorful hat is great for spring/summer whether it is an event or a wedding, the hat adds that extra touch to an outfit. Would look great with a plain colored coat.
Great hat with any look for Kate, the doubled color which I would like to see in a different color (as I feel this is ideal for a funeral) would look great and a timeless hat IMO.

Oscar de la Renta spring 2011 - I really like the combination of the cardigan, the top and the neutral pants. This is a great comfortable look for the season.
Oscar de la Renta spring 2011 - A lovely floral dress with a knitted cardigan perfect for spring/summer, Kate can wear & pull off such prints nicely.
Burberry - A lovely coat to be worn all buckled up or with a simple dress underneath since the coat is a lot going on. Its very elegant especially for an evening look.
Burberry dress - I love the color for Kate, I also think its an elegant dress with the detailing over it. Kate also has the body to pull this off.
Temperley tunic - A great summer tunic for watching a polo match or at an event with a colored skirt or even jeans.
Temperley dress - A great strapless dress which I think is a great cut, would look good with her hair pulled back or even up.
Temperley kaftan - I choose this as this is different to an evening dress yet could pass for a cocktail dress for an evening look.
Temperley day dress - Elegant yet the one sleeve makes it quite pretty. I like the print and the fact its simple and not much.
Temperley dress - A great evening dress with hair up or open with some jewelry. I think its a great cut for Kate.

If indeed Catherine has asked for a professional to help her "get it right" on her first overseas trip I am impressed with her self confidence and maturity.
Not that it is a surprise, she showed a self confidence and generosity of spirit that allowed her younger sister to knock the socks off the world at large. If that showed anything more than a wish to fully involve her sister, it also showed what couture can do for the figure, that you don't have to be a movie star or a model to look fabulous.
Catherine seems to be asking for the ultimate "Princess" starter wardrobe of which, to be honest, she has few items at present. That which is needed for the fiancé of a Prince is barely starter fodder for the wife on an official overseas visit.
I am sure that regardless of who is selected Catherine will still dress in the same personal style. Changing it would be like trying to change her and that would not be a good start.
One thing I really hope for is she learns to use her hair as the ultimate accessory (a la the Swedish RF) and that we see HATS!

Im sure her stylist will work to what Catherine wants but into a more professional put together way. I don't see Catherine every dressing or turning into a fashionista movie star. Her outfits always seem to be somehow ladylike/elegant/professional but without trying so hard which I like.

Dazzling, thank you for removing my post. I didn't realize there was one specific thread for that :)
Must say I'm loving your options. It would be nice to see Catherine wearing something from a Canadian designer during the tour.any suggestion?, I don't know any (I think)

Reiss
Beige skirt - Its an essential piece, Kate could match this with anything, dress it up or down as well.
Blue dress - Great for an official event, its also a color that is outstanding, not too bright not too dark.
Silk bronze dress - A simple dress and a great color, hair pulled back and earrings kept simple, Kate would look lovely in this.
Pink/purple dress - Not sure what I would call this color but it's a great piece for any daytime event, it could be worn sleeveless or with a nice cardigan. The detailing makes it elegant IMO.
White dress - A lovely dress for a daytime event, I would love to see her in this with colored accessories to add color to it.
Blush top - Essential top to be matched with pants or a skirt, dress it up or down IMO is quite easy.
Black/white/beige top - I'd love to see this matched with a skirt, its not colorful nor is it too much blocks of colors. Matched with a plain beige/black skirt this would look really pretty.
Jenny Packham Spring 2011 (Jenny is a British designer known for her cocktail & evening looks)
All images from Jenny Packham - Luxury Design House. Bridal and Ready to Wear Dresses
Cocktail dress - Such a nice dress for Kate, she could pull this off very well but hair has to be pulled up.
Long blue dress - I like the fitted part of the dress around the wait and the cut. Its anise color and the embellishments on the front add a nice finishing.
Orange dress - The cut is lovely, the one shoulder style will suit Kate. The dress has a great movement to it IMO.
Beaded cocktail dress - Amazing dress IMO for a cocktail party or a dinner. The only thing with this dress Kate has to do is get the shoes and hair right.
Long beaded dress - I like the one shoulder of it, would be nice maybe with a very simple brooch in the hair.

A few selections I would love to see Kate in. They are British designers.
Erdem printed dress - Lovely color and print, quite pretty for a cocktail event or a daytime event with a hat. It would also look really nice if matched with a coat or jacket.
ROKSANDA ILINCIC - A lovely lime dress, looks quite flattering and Kate could pull it off well.

Marchesa Resort 2012
White & gold cocktail dress - Lovely white dress with gold embellishments, Kate looks good in white and in slim cuts, this would be lovely but hair need to be pulled up, if hair is left open then it could look messy and the embellishments around the neck/shoulder wont look good.
Long white & gold dress - Simple but yet quite elegant with the gold embellishments on it.
Green strapless dress - It would be nice to see Kate in a strapless dress, this is a great shade and the embellishments add a soft touch to the look.
Long dress - Simple, yet lovely for Kate, great style & cut.
Temperley London Resort 2012
White sleeveless dress - Great dress and lovely detailing, this is very Kate IMO.
Erdem Resort 2012
Cocktail dress - Very pretty for Kate, the mix of blue and red works well and gives it an elegant young look. This dress really need a up do hairstyle.
Long dress - Lovely and simple, the lace isn't much and this could be worn with very simple jewels.
Tweed navy dress - Lovely dress, its not an old ladies outfit IMO, looks young and the plain solid color on the waist is lovely.
Trench coat with tweed - Lovely coat, very elegant.

Apart from the final one and the strapless Marchesa gown, I think all of these are very Catherine. Had her first evening gown not been dazzling, I would not have thought the white Marchesa dresses to her taste, but it appears she likes a little bit of sparkle!

Wearing Chanel or Lacroix would lead to a very public outcry over inappropriate expenses.

True, but the style of the dress would look amazing on her. Both Cate and Kate are very tall and slim but Cate has an extraordinary talent in wearing the most amazing haute couture pieces and still look effortless. Not many have that. The short hair also helps.
About the Miu Miu dress, Charlotte styled it the wrong way, she made herself look old. Michelle Williams wore a dress from the same collection at the MET Gala earlier 2011 and she looked incredible. Met Gala 2011 – Michelle Williams « The Short Fashionista
There are more dresses from that collection that are absolutely delicious

And no, the dresses I posted are not trashy. They're not Versace or Dsquared. That's trashy.

I would say that the dress worn by Ms. Williams would be a fine choice for The Duchess of Cambridge. She usually opts for dresses in a similar style.
