The King Rama X and Family General News

But what about Dipangkorn? Does the king disown him?
No, but everyone in Thailand knows he couldn't succeed the throne due to his health condition. Plus, the queen mother isn't very supportive of the idea due to fact that he was born out of a commoner mother. German newspaper, Bild, reported this story in February 2021: https://www.theroyalforums.com/forums/f88/succession-to-the-thai-throne-41391-5.html#post2382097
But she isn't married and has no children at the age of 44 so there would surely be uncertainity.

Sad News if she really has passed away.
She is the least scandalized children of the king and has the best prospect for saving this monarchy from its downfall (and from all the messes her father has accumulated over the years). Without her succeeding the throne, the future of Thai monarchy is getting much dimmer in my opinion.

Funnily enough, few weeks before king
Bhumibol died I had a discussion with a friend who was studying in a university in Bangkok that time that to save the Thai monarchy, instead of Vajiralongkorn it should be his sister to succed the throne considering his scandals and that she's more popular amongst public than him.
And now over six years later, Vajiralongkorn still on the throne and the monarchy still exists and my friend (she ends up getting a job in Bangkok), comes to the conclusion that Thai monarchy is not about what the public think but who the military wants to be on the throne and I happen to agree. We sort of liken Thai monarchy with Japan during shogunate era.

This interview with BBC’s correspondant says it all what public sentiment is like in Thailand right now. She is expected to succeed as plausible and successful heir to this already-in-trouble Southeast Asian monarchy. No other children of the king shares this kind of prospect as much as she does.

I am shocked to hear this news.
She was so incredibly fit and healthy! She was jumping out of helicopters for goodness sake. If anyone has a healthy heart it is her! I pray that the reports are untrue and that the Princess pulls though this!

Maybe it's from overwork?

Didn't it happen the same with Kara Kennedy?

What about Princess Sirivannavari? She is young, beautiful, and faithfully carries out her duties. Could she not be groomed to become heiress?

Just to name a few: she rarely carries any duties while at home, spends much of her time in France and Italy hopping between fashion shows, gets caught in a scandal where government has been lobbied to promote and spend tax revenue on her struggling fashion brand, asserts her influence to be part of Thailand's badminton and equestrian sport national teams despite lacking capabilities, closes down an entire island for herself just to have a good time with her elite friends. Sounds like a wonder person for being a head of state isn't she?
What are Prince Dipangkorn's health problems?
Autism or, how the BBC put it, developmental challenges.

I didn't know anything about this until I read it here in RF. The King's face shows the pain, even with the mask, as he visited his daughter in life support.

Anyone knows if the King's sisters be considered to take over the kingdom if he rejects any of his adult children to succeed him?

Which of the King's sisters? I would imagine Princess Sirindhorn. Princess Ubolratana is not in the line of succession (she married a foreigner) and Princess Chulabhorn, the youngest, has an auto-immune disease.

All the informations so far came from the journalist Andrew MacGregor Marshall

He is pretty adamant that there is NO perspective of recovery, and she is only 'technically' alive as in her body is kept alive by a machine (i.e., she has been brain death since Wednesday). According to him it is not the first time that the monarchy either keeps someone on such a machine for a long time or delays announcing the death of a family member, so it doesn't interfere with other events (such as the new year celebration - which he expects will happen this time again; but until that time they will pretend she needs their prayers for recovery and in that way play up support from the people).

He also writes that he received a message from Twitter that the government has requested to remove his tweets about the princess (near) death but that so far they have not complied with that request. However, it might happen, so if you want his full story, you might want to check it out immediately.

Edit: He also just posted the full story on Facebook.

Among other things he indicates that the princess had no heartbeat or brain function for more than 10 hours when she arrived at the hospital but was only declared brain death much later on Thursday. He also states that at first the doctors thought she had had a heart attack but now they've concluded she suffered a 'subarachnoid haemorrhage in the skull' that resulted in her heart no longer beating.

Would be good an autist being a head of state, I'm saying it because I'm diagnosed with Asperger syndrom
I agree. There are some types of autism where the person is fully functional. I hope he can become king.
Are you really suggesting that prospect? To be honest, I'm completely appalled by the idea and I firmly believe many others would feel the same upon hearing that our next monarch would have a bit of health condition called autism.

Royal watcher and critics, Andrew MacGregor Marshall, reveals more details on how event unfolded and discuss its implications on the royal succession here (English discussion starts at 6:25):

Seems like it first started with celebral edema (brain swelling) followed by cardiac arrest that resulted in her collapse. His sources told that by time she arrived at the local hospital, which was approximately well over an hour later, she's already dead. She's no loger breathing anymore. The king was rushed in a military helicopter to see her and when he arrived, it's clear that she's gone. He wept, realizing everything was over, but demanded everyone to keep trying until they eventually gave up.

I personnally do sympathize him a little bit (eventhough he's such a horrible person, let alone king, in my opinion). Losing his favourite child and possible heir must be really devastating for him. I find it really tragic too. She was our only hope to save and uplift this plunging monarchy. And as a monarchist, I'm not sure what's lying on the road ahead of us now

Let's speak about his sources of the information. Does he pay doctors for information? Or maybe the princess' security team informs him? Or he has a magic crystal ball?

What auto-immune disease does she have?
Did her daughters inherited it from her?
And for that reason decided not to have their own children?

Last news: The Royal Couple have been tested positive for Covid-19:

If this information comes from valid source, with Thai's les majeste, either this source is very brave or they have really good backing (who unsure they would avoid punishment)

(..)

I hope she will be freed from her troubles soon..

Just curious: Is there something symbolic or meaningful about the matching track suits the king and his wife wore to visit the hospital? (Is there a sports team associated with the ailing princess or something?)

"Royal Household Bureau issued 2nd statement on condition of HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mon saying she's "somewhat stable" & heartbeat regulated with medicines. "Doctors still use external machine to assist functioning of the heart, lung & spleen"."

Autism is not a health condition in the common sense of the term, though some autistic people may have physical or mental health conditions, as do some non-autistic people. If many people in the country feel appalled at the idea of autistic people in leadership positions (which is not surprising, as it is the same in most of the world) then I imagine most autistic Thais, royal or otherwise, who aspire to positions of power will hide their status. In Dipangkorn's case, it sounds as if he is rumored to have major cognitive or physical impairments (one of the Andrew Macgregor Marshall reports recently posted here mentions that he has never spoken in public, so perhaps he has a speech disability), which are being conflated with his (alleged) autism, and which have left it to others to control the public narrative around him.

It seems the rumors are sadly true then.

One wonders how long they will keep her on life support until they accept the inevitable.

Who is the gentleman accompanying the Queen of Bhutan? is someone from the Royal Family of Bhutan?

I had never noticed that the royal families of Bhutan and Thailand were close.
They are both Buddhist monarchies and among the few still around today and the two countries are geographically closer than say Japan and I don’t believe they have close relations with the other Buddhist monarchy of Cambodia.
