King Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida attended State Opening of Parliament.

Usually the ceremony is held at Ananta Samakom Throne Hall (Thailand's first and former parliament building). However, it is currently under renovation and construction of the new parliament complex is yet to complete. This occasion, therefore, is held at Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Thanks!

Even i posted after Appleich post i must say i don't give so much attention about the titles.

How many concubines does the king have, and how many did his father have?

How many concubines does the king have, and how many did his father have?

The first answer is nobody knows for sure.

The second answer is none. King Bhumibol only had Queen Sirikit as a consort. However, polygamy is not a new thing in Thai royal court. King Chulalongkorn (Rama V; great-grand father of the current king) reigned with 4 queens (concurrently) and numerous concubines. This practice discontinued during the reign of King Prajadhipok (Rama VII) as such concept has become obsolete in modern societies. For sure, bringing concubinage back in the royal court has greatly tarnished the monarchy's image as an institution.

In regard to Queen Suthida, she knows exactly what she is dealing with since she is not the first (nor the last) consort of the king.

The Nepalese monarchy was abolished in 2008. If even the Nepalese, in general docile and with a Hinduist servitude to the high and mighty, decide to get rid of all this, this should be a warning to the Thai King that there is always a limit to eccentricities. Bearing in mind his one-day-turned-in-Queen-girfriend, his poodle with the rank of a Field Marshall and now his "lay-by-me-lady".
