CP Naruhito will visit Malaysia in mid-April, possibly 13-17th, to celebrate 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Japan. CP Masako who is under medical treatment will not accompany him. It's a short schedule because the spring garden party is on April 20th.

Japan Crown Prince: Malaysia Can Be Model for Diversity - The New York Times
Quote:
Japan's Crown Prince Naruhito said Tuesday that he believes Malaysia's success is based on its diversity and tolerance, and the country can be a model for a world faced with conflicts.

[...]

"Diversity and tolerance are the words that come to my mind in describing my image of Malaysia today," he said. The country has generated energy and unity as a nation while the people of Malay, Chinese and Indian roots have come to respect each other's differences and coexisted, he said.

Ahead of his visit to Malaysia beginning later this week, he said at a rare news conference at his palace that he looks forward to learning from the country's experience in using its ethnic, religious and cultural diversity as a source for development.

[...]

"I would like to observe and hear from the people of Malaysia from the viewpoint that Malaysia's example can be a model for the international society, which is still faced with conflicts for various reasons, in terms of how a world can be," the soft-spoken Naruhito said.

Naruhito cites parents as role model to further goodwill abroad: The Asahi Shimbun
Quote:
Crown Prince Naruhito said his first visit to Malaysia from April 13 is an opportunity to emulate the example set by his parents through overseas trips to promote international goodwill.

[...]

He said it would "provide an excellent opportunity to promote mutual understanding and friendship."

Naruhito, 57, touched upon the manner in which the emperor and empress, during their trips abroad, always reflected on the destination country's history with Japan.

"I want to maintain a special place in my heart for the feelings of the emperor and empress in my effort to contribute to international goodwill," he added.

[...]

Naruhito also touched upon the fact that Crown Princess Masako will not accompany him on this trip as her health will not permit it.

"Both Masako and myself feel deep regret" about this, the crown prince said.
Malaysia-bound Crown Prince calls overseas trips 'important task' | The Japan Times
Quote:
Crown Prince Naruhito has described official overseas trips by the Imperial family as an important task and opportunity to promote friendly relations with other countries.

Speaking ahead of his first visit to Malaysia on Thursday, the Crown Prince said, “It is a very good opportunity to promote mutual understanding as well as friendship and goodwill.”

He added that such trips were an “extremely important task of the Imperial household.”

[...]

He did not make any remarks on Emperor Akihito’s envisioned abdication, which was first flagged during a televised address to the nation last August.

[...]

The Southeast Asian country invited the Crown Prince and his wife, Crown Princess Masako, but she will not accompany her husband this time.

The princess has been receiving treatment for a stress-induced illness. The Imperial Household Agency said it decided she should skip the trip considering the burden on her from other events she is scheduled to attend in the coming weeks, including a spring garden party hosted by Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko on April 20.

One the one hand funny, on the other hand always a bit strange when politicians are doing this, isn't it?

On May 31st, CP Naruhito visited an exercise class and puppet show at "Yotsuya Children's Garden" kindergarten in Shinjuku, Tokyo. CP Masako did not attend as she still has sore throat and fever from last week’s cold. Although Japan's Children’s Day is May 5 and part of Golden Week holidays, many countries observe June 1st as Children’s Day. The CP couple have taken over Children's Day visits since 2015.
