Having the World Economic Forum meet again at the Dead Sea in Jordan is another testimonial to the leadership and its vision, and the capabilities of those who really work to better Jordan and place it on the world map. And such conferences have significant pecuniary benefits to Jordan.
According to the UN World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), conference tourism made up 5 per cent of world tourism — over 13 million tourist visits — in 2005.

For a small country that usually does not make much news, Jordan is making a claim on the world’s attention with a series of fascinating consecutive events.
Within the span of a week, Jordan is hosting its annual gathering of Nobel laureates at Petra, to bring the world’s best minds to bear on the challenges of peace and development in the Middle East; hosts the annual World Economic Forum Middle East gathering that brings together 1,200 top business, government and media people from around the world; and it caps off the week with meetings of senior officials from Israel, Palestine and the US, geared to prod a renewed Arab-Israeli peace-making process, alongside a meeting of the new G-11 group of lower-middle income countries that seek to spark a new aid, development and reform partnership with the world’s great powers.

Queen Rania, YGLs, and Jordanian students unite to advance Dignity principles
Amman, May 18 (Petra)-- Recognizing that every human has the right to lead a dignified life begins with a conversation. That conversation took place amongst 100 Jordanian youth, Friday, in an event called Dignity Day. The students joined Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah and members of the Young Global Leaders (YGLs) in a passionate and inspiring conversation about what it means to live a dignified life and how to treat each other in accordance with the principles of dignity.
The event brought together the three cofounders of the Dignity Day initiative, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon Magnus of Norway, Professor Pekka Himanen of the University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and Operation HOPE Founder and CEO John Hope Bryant, as they reunited with several other Jordanian and international YGLs. CLIMATE change and energy security are among the greatest risks facing the Middle East, as a scarcity of natural resources disrupts the social fabric and Western states try to move away from hydrocarbons, the World Economic Forum said yesterday.

The ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, says he is giving $10bn (£5bn) to set up an educational foundation in the Middle East. The money is meant to improve the standard of education and research in the region, and aims to stimulate job creation, Sheikh Mohammed said.

Dead Sea, may 19 (Petra)-- Taking on an unlikely role as a moderator, in exceptionally active attire, Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah engaged a distinguished panel in discussing the move from charity to active giving at the World Economic Forum in the Dead Sea, Saturday........
Queen Rania, who was sporting a t-shirt supporting the Join Red campaign, noted that the focus of the day's conversation was to address whether "that hand is a hand out, i.e. charity, or a hand to help them up, i.e. civic engagement."
