KRT WORLD NEWS STORY SLUGGED: HUSSEIN KRT PHOTOGRAPH COURTESY OF THE ROYAL AUTOMOBILE CLUB OF JORDAN (KRT118 - February 4 ) King Hussein of Jordan holds the Winner's Cup with his son and heir to the thrown, Crown Prince Abdullah in this 1988 photograph at the Royal Automobile Club in Amman, Jordan. The King won the cup for the Rumman Kill climb, a timed, uphill, car race that is his favorite. Hussein is en route to Jordan after receiving a bone marrow transplant and a round of chemotherapy at Minnesota's Mayo Clinic. Officials say Hussein, who has been battling non-Hodgkin's lymphoma cancer is in critical condition. (KRT) AP PL BL KD 1999 (Horz.)

Terrific photos of an amazing man, ruler and statesman. He is very much missed in this world of violence. I take nothing away from King Abdullah. He is great in his own right and learned well from his father.
