Italian Rennaissance

In this forum of Kings, Queens and Royalty
I cant help thinking that the Italian Rennaissance and
all the 100s of events and characters of that
incredible century are missing out ......
That and the fact that Italy is a Republic....

Spare a thought for the lovely Lucrezia Borgia !

Much painting of the Renaissance was commissioned by or for the Catholic Church.
Filippo Luppi painted Madonna and Child in 1459.
Michelangelo painted the scenes from Genesis on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.
What started the Italian Renaissance?

The Italian Renaissance had numerous artists.

A very important role in the Italian Renaissance had Cardinal Bessarion, the Greek metropolitan of Nicea and later titular Patriarch of Constantinople.
