That's very interesting; thanks Count!
I wonder if the privilege of the baldachin has anything to do with the so-called "Black Aristocracy".

Of course Tosca, they are all members of the "Black Aristocracy". The "Nobiltā nera" were composed by all the Roman families, that dressed in black because they were in "mourning" when the Savoy's Army occupied Rome and the Church's Kingdom ended...

I remember that I've read in a biography of Pope Pius XII, whose family belonged to the Black Aristocracy, that in the years after the occupation of Rome the shutters of the windows of the main facade of his Family's Palace were always kept closed, because of this "mourning"...

I had a look into this site in the Italian part and I saw a strange mix: there are noble families and other with title of pure fantasy!!! One of the many fake informations that we find in the net!

The style of "Don" and "Donna" is given to all members of princerly and ducal families, to the Roman families with the privilege of the "Baldacchino" (families who could receive the Pope in their Palaces)

Tell me, is it correct that these visits from the Pope to these privileged Roman families palaces ended with Pope Paul VI?

Pope Paul VI with his Motu Proprio (=Pope's decree) Pontificalis Domus (=Pontiff's Household) and others, issued in 1975, changed the composition of the Pontiff's Court abolishing all offices reserved to Noble families.
He also disbanded the Corps of the Guardia Nobile di Sua Santitā (=His Holiness' Noble Guard), which was a Military Corps were its members should at least have 100 years of nobility in the male line.
After these changes Popes have never "officially" visited palaces of noble families.

Thanks for your most informative posts, Count!
Speaking of the Roman Black Aristocracy, here's a recent picture of Prince Lilio Ruspoli with Princess Maria Pia.

Last countess?
I'm not sure where the right place to post this is, but I met someone today who claimed to be the relative of the 'last countess of Savoy'. Is this even possible?

The last ruling Count of Savoy was Amadeus VIII who had an upgrade to ruling Duke of Savoy in 1416.
I can't find a reference to a Count (or Countess) of Savoy in the almost 600 years to today.

They are both very beautiful. I am assuming that these are photos for a modeling portfolio. Are they sisters? Who are their parents?

They're not sisters. Giacinta is the only daughter of Prince Lilio and Princess Maria Pia Ruspoli ( see here).
Prior to becoming a Princess, Maria Pia Giancaro (real surname Giamporcaro) was an actress, originally from Sicily.
Do not know much about Olimpia Colonna instead, apart from the fact that she is a good friend of Giacinta Ruspoli.

Olimpia Colonna could be the youngest daughter of Don Marcantonio Colonna, Prince Colonna, Prince of Paliano and his wife, nče Barbara Pergolesi; or the daughter of Don Flavio Colonna of Dukes of Rignano and his first wife Monica Monticelli.
Don Carlo Caracciolo, Prince of Castagneto and Duke of Melito, died today in Rome aged 83. He married in 1996 Donna Violante Visconti, of the Dukes of Modrone, (1934-2000), and was the father of journalist Jacaranda Caracciolo Falck (had together with Anna Falck, nče Cataldi), who is the wife of Prince Fabio Borghese, Prince of Leonforte; his sister Marella married in 1953 FIAT magnate Gianni Agnelli. Caracciolo was known to be the founder, editor and publisher of the daily "La Repubblica".

Jacaranda Falck is the daughter of Anna Cataldi and her ex husband Giorgio Falck. Prince Caracciolo adopted her after he married Anna.

Jackaranda was officially recognized by Prince Carlo because she is his natural daughter. He has never married Anna Cataldi, as far as I know.

Yes, Prince Carlo married only one time in 1996 to Violante Visconti; Anna Cataldi was at the time of the birth of Jacaranda the wife of Giorgio Falck.

Officially Jacaranda is Falck's daughter, later she was adopted by Prince Caracciolo. Anna Cataldi was Falck's first wife, and they had two other children: Giovanni (who died in a boat accident), and Guia. Afterwards Falck married actress Rosanna Schiaffino, and had a son with her: Guido.
After divorcing Schiaffino, Falck married his longtime mistress Silvia Urso, with whom he had two other children.

Dear Carlo you are getting old!
You forget that it is not allowed to kiss the hand
1. to a not married woman
2. when the person is outside!
But, of course, he does it only for the pleasure of the reporters!!!
