Thank you, thank you, thank you, Tosca, you are a real sweetheart. Olimpia is just so beautiful ! If you ever find her wedding pictures again, let me know ! Ever since Princess Caroline attended her debutante ball, they have been intertwined in my mind, and they could almost pass for sisters in some shots.

I just thought of another thing, Tosca, which is that in these 3 pictures, Olimpia looks a lot like the model Janice Dickinson, when she was young, and oddly enough, Janice Dickinson was said to look like Princess Caroline !

Then you must have read my mind. They look similar, infact.
I'll try to find those pictures for you, don't worry!

We have Beatrice Borromeo (who studies in Bocconi but has a pea-brain...), she conducts a program on football and acts like a stupid duck...

You needn't have much imagination to see she isn't exactly what we call a genius! Is that her grand-mother Countess Marta Marzotto that has influenced her? Her half sisters Isabella, Matilde and Lavinia look much smarter than Bea is.

And lastly, look at this woman "Contessa Pinina Garavaglia", she looks more like a rotten barbie trying to act as if she jumped out of a fairytale!

I didn't realize Olimpia was so tall . And she has a stunning body in that bathing suit ! The Baron David was a lucky man !
I wish Olimpia and Caroline still saw each other. I bet they would have been great friends !

Iloveyals, I found a picture of Olimpia dating back to last year. Unfortunately you can only see her profile, but as far as I can see she's still beautifu.l (source: kh-uhia.org)
Olimpia (she's the first on the left)

You can view some photos of Olympia de Rothschild with her husband David on WWW.Corbis.com. They look like they are from the late 1980's and 1990's. Input David Rothschild and search.

Olympia is one of my favorite style icons. She was in W magazine alot in the late 1970's, and on the cover 1 or 2'x with her mother in law: Marie Helene de Rothschild. However, in the early 1980's she dissappeared from the magazines. I often wondered what had happened. About 10 years ago, Paris March had an article about David and Olympia. I do not understand french but you could tell by the photo that showed them with their 4 children that something was wrong with one of the girls. She looked like the oldest (Lanvania?) but both parents were walking holding her hands and she had a bonnet/helmet on her head. A few years ago Vanity Fair had an article about the Rothschild family and said that Olympia had been part of hte Paris Social scene in the 1970's, but had withdrawn from public life after the illness of her daughter. I am guessing it's the same one.
You can find a few more photos of Olympia on WWW.Newscom.com. Search David Rothschild.
In addition, in some of the old photos of Princess Caroline's engagement party at Maxim's in 1978 to Phillipe Junot, she is in the background because she and her husband David were seated at the same table with Phillipe and Caroline. I think David at that time was a banking associate of Phillipes.
More photos of Olympia at Corbis: photography, rights, assignment, motion. from the late 1980's or 1990's. Search David Rothschild

Thank you all for the pictures and links for Olimpia. I also have a few which I'll post when I get back home, but they are tiny.
Olimpia and David's first born had meningitis and was blind. Perhaps this explains her disappearance from the social scene.
By the way, Olimpia, what a name ! She carried it with the proper imperial attitude. Too bad she was not a reigning or reigning to be princess like that other princess with a name born to rule, Victoria...

Giuseppe Tomasi Lanza di Lampedusa, the duke of Palma di Montichiaro, died in 1957 with no heirs. His name became a household one when in 1958 a writer, Giorgio Bassani discovered the only novel Tomasi had written, called "Il Gattopardo" (the Leopard), that obviously was released as Tomasi's posthoumous work. Director Luchino Visconti based his film, starring Claudia Cardinale, Burt Lancaster and Alain Delon, from that novel, and it become an international cult film.
Tomasi drew his ispiration for his novel, from his family history, and in particular from the life of one of his ancestors who lived at the time Sicily was joined to Italy, and the Savoia royal family took over the Bourbon-Two Sicilies.

Here's an article about Prince Giuseppe di Lampedusa; Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia .
The article mentions that he is buried in the Capuchin catacombs in Palermo. It sounds a bit gruesome if you can see his mummified body.

On April 3rd Count Luca Geatani Lovatelli d'Aragona, aged 52, was found dead under the Garibaldi Bridge in downtown Rome.
This was the third tragic event that struck this noble and ancient Roman family, as many years ago one of his brothers died in a parachuting accident.
A couple of year ago, two days before Christmas another brother of his, Count Roffredo, who was linked to Ivana Trump for some years, and worked as a Ferrari car imported in the U.S.A., died in a car accident in Southern Tuscany.
His brother Count Gelasio is a wine producer in Tuscany. Their aunt was Baroness Afdera Franchetti, Henry Fonda's second wife.

There's also a gallery at: Olycom. Also Getty Images has pics for the GLdA family with Ivana Trump and other celebrities, including Lapo Agnelli, Gelasio's close friend.
