I made a "verb" mistake when I wrote the sentence above, here the correct one...

I have not seen "la vita in diretta" so I do not know exactly what you are talking about.

He speaks in the same way as in the everyday life, as commoners sometimes do. The difference is that a "commoner" would never speak in that way on TV!
This happens to the whole family of Vittorio Emanuele...

On a live TV show a lot of things can come forth then, with no interference from the censors. Not always a good thing to happen.

But I totally agree with Iceflower; Clotilde does look younger and better with darker hair! She also appears much healthier and fresher, since the blonde colour made her look so pale and tired IMO.
By the way, it's nice to see them out together again.
My opinion exactly - Clothilde looks so healthy and radiant -

Emanuele Filiberto was hosted on another talk show on Canale 5 last Monday. He was invited to meet a lady suffering from MS.
Seems he behaved himself this time!

Here's the article with a small picture of EM and the lady (in Italian)

Do you have the 5 second delay on Italian TV or you could hear everything he said uncut?
No 5 second delay and no beeps unfortunately, we had to get the whole lot... I believe that the interview had been previously registered and broadcasters chose to avoid censorship. EF claimed that there is a sort of conspiracy by the Italian Republic against him and the Savoy family, and when asked by the interviewer what was motivation of the supposed separation rumours, he answered that it is envy as he is so funny and successful on the media.... (sic!)
By the way, the Savoy family members, when facing media incidents, often try to fix it by appearing on charity or church events soon after.
I still remember a magazine cover displaying the whole family with Saint Peter's Cupola in the background soon after VE release from prison. I find this religious manipulation of poor taste. They could defend themselves without using religion and charity in their support.

It seems that EF is doing all that he can to find a place for the Savoy royals in the Italy of the 21st century -
After years of the disgraceful behavior of his father, EF is trying to bolster up the family's name and reputation.
Seems like a good Public Relations specialist could do wonders for this family as EF is on very good behavior on some days and then acts like a spoiled brat and lothario on other days.

This sounds more like-self-deprecating humour on E-F's part.

Image-management crisis control is common the world over. Every PR handbook would have a chapter (and more!) on this subject.

EF sounded pretty serious and upset during the interview, I am not sure that he was using sense of humour. He added that he had several important media proposals and exposure plans which he is currently evaluating and cannot discuss in details.
I would agree on a form of unvoluntary humour, and I would say that this is pretty common with members of this family.
I am not a mother tongue English writer, but my command of Italian allows me at least to catch subtleties and humour when present.
If will search the video of the interview on youtube and, if available, will post a link here for evaluation, although it's in local language, for everyone's evaluation.
Please confirm whether this complies with the forum rules.

Sure, but this does not make it any more acceptable from my part.... btw yesterday I was in Turin at Palazzo Reale, the former Savoy residence in what was once the Italian capital.
The Savoy family had obviously many fans in the Piedmont Region and the latest behaviours of the family representatives are a source of embarrassment and mixed thoughts for them.
A local friend told recounts of how his grandmother as a child woke up early in a winter morning to line up out in the cold to welcome a Savoy crown prince in her village, and how fond she was of this memory many years later.
He added that traditionally the Savoy family, when based in Piedmont, did not seek occasions of exposure and meetings with the locals. They were very formal and distant.
A touristic hint: when discussing this, we were having a tradtional "bicerin" chocolate drink in the "Caffè Reale", based in the old apothecary of Palazzo Reale. A place worth a visit full of Turinese tradition and warmth.

I agree with you Debbies: this man doesn't have a sense of humor. He always seems to stay on the defensive, and often flies off the handle, whenever he perceives somebody's hostility towards himself. I mean that he perceives, but this doesn't necessarily means that somebody is hostile toward him. I guess it's the language gap: don't forget that French is his first language, they speak among themselves in the family, and that he grew up outside Italy up until not long ago.

Apart from the fact that. like you say, the Savoy family have always been distant from their subjects, when they were ruling Piedmont, let alone when they became the Kings of Italy.
They started to make themselves hated by the Lombards only few years after the unification of Italy, when the King ordered Gen. Bava Beccaris to shoot on the people demostrating in the street against the rises of the price of bread.

Prince Emanuele will dance in the reality show "Ballando con le stelle" ("Dancing with the stars") just because he has "a family to maintain". According to corriere.it he already begun his dance lessons, his o5-year old daughter Victoria who is studying the dance sometimes is asking him if he can do this or another step.

So we're in for a good laugh once again, and are expected to see more funny vids from "Striscia La Notizia".

In that case they can only ask for part time help.......
Has his father appeared on TV in the last few months or it is only up to EF to do the heavy lifting??

Lordy..... are they being serious?? Besides, do these dancers get paid to dance on the Italian show?

They do get paid to appear on those shows! With the taxpayers' money of course, as the State run TV demands the citizens € 106,00 yearly to watch its (often awful) shows and programmes, and Mediaset is no better, but at least you don't have to pay to watch it!

That is so awful.........For someone who is known because he is a member of a royal family. ( I do not believe he'd be famous for anything he personally accomplished. Am I wrong??)
How unroyal can it get?? Dancing on TV for cash??

You're not wrong, Odette. He hasn't accomplished anything of interest as of yet, apart from appearing on the TV, and hitting the news with his father's "adventures"....

Of course his cousin Amedeo of Aosta didn't miss the chance to harshly criticize him via the net...
