I suppose that some may argue that if he would respect the cause, he would have recognised the present Duke of Aosta already. TBH, I think that king Umberto was quite wise in taking the family seal with him to the grave.
The Royal House leaded by HRH Prince Amedeo has no dialogue at all with Mr Emanuele-Filiberto di Savoia. No comparison could be made with the Royal House of Two Sicilies where we speak about branches of the same Royal Family.
The Duke of Aosta has always been respectful to the national institutions. In fact, since he never left Italy (unlike the other branch of the Savoy family) he did the military service (it was obligatory in Italy until ten years ago) and he sworn his fealty to the Republic.
That's the point; the constitutional provision stated that the access and sojourn to the Italian territory was forbidden to the ex kings of the House of Savoy, their spouses and their male descendants. This meant that only King Vittorio Emanuele III, Queen Elena, King Umberto II, Queen Maria José and Prince Vittorio Emanuele were touched by this provision (and later also Vittorio Emanuele's wife and son).Well Prince Amedeo, the present Duke of Aosta, was (and is) a male heir but he was no descendant of King Umberto indeed.
[....] Prince Amedeo was not a descendant of the ex Kings. He was indeed a member of the Royal Family and a Prince of Savoy, he was a possible successor to the ex Kings, but not a descendant from them. He was in the same situation of the Princes of Savoy-Genova.
Well Prince Amedeo, the present Duke of Aosta, was (and is) a male heir but he was no descendant of King Umberto indeed.
I hope all turns well for the Italian monarchist cause. I hold Prince Aimone and Princess Olga in high esteem. I like their restraint and serious behaviour.
Yes, he is indeed; but the point of my previous post is that Prince Amedeo was allowed to reside in Italy after 1946 and was not forced to live in exile because he wasn't a descendant of the two "ex Kings of the House of Savoy" affected by the constitutional provision, in spite of the fact that he was a member of the royal family, a male line descendant from the first King of Italy and a possible successor to the throne or however to the headship of the House of Savoy.Well, also Prince Amedeo, the current Duke of Aosta is a descendant of an Italian King in direct paternal lineage:
