HRH Duke Amedeo (1943-2021) and the Savoy-Aosta Family

If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I think she shouldn't have made known publicly her girl has Down syndrome. It's so a difficult moment that it seems indecent to me to announce it to the whole world.

I watched her interviewed by La Vita...yesterday, but unfortunately when I switched on the TV, the interview was almost over. However I understood that Amedeo will provide for the little Ginevra, but he doesn't want to meet his former mistress anymore. The only one in the family to care about this child is Aimone, the Duke's son, according to what Kyara said.
The reason Kyara talked to the press, was that Amedeo was totally ignoring her, and always refused to get in touch with her or her ex-partner, who acted as a go-between on Kyara's behalf.
As far as I can see he also refuses the kid's parenting. Many a man get out of responsibility where a handicapped child is concerned.
And that's a peculiarity of the Carignano family (the real House of Savoy died out in mid- XIX century) excell: they're great escapologists!

I disagree, I would rather them announce it, then to hide it in shame. They can raise awarness of the disorder.

Yes, but it would have been to announce it after the birth IMO, so that would have given the impression this Down-syndrom is not used to put pressure on the father.

One more piece of news on Kyara's baby: little Ginevra will undergo stomach sugery soon after her birth. She'll have duodenum surgery to allow her to survive.
Duke Amedeo said he's very sorry. (source Gente via Dagospia.it)

According to Dagospia, Kyara van Ellinkhuizen would have signed a contract with TV show "La Vita in Diretta" on 15th November 2005, and that will expire on the 6th June 2006, to turn her affair with Amedeo di Savoia-Aosta into sort of a reality show. The author of the article swears he read it.
Here's the original article written in Italian taken from Dagospia

8 - KYARA: UNA VITA IN DIRETTA... E SOTTO CONTRATTO

poor ginevra. she's got nothing to do with all this story, but it seems she will eb the only one suffering, whilst her mother continues her comedy!

The "duchess" was hosted at "La Vita in Diretta" again yesterday. I don't know why, each time I switch on that channel, she always happens to be around. Yesterday it was Women's Day here, so they found an excuse to wish her well and interview her once again on the same topic.
Of course she didn't say anything new: Amedeo cannot be found, and she complained for having to go to the hospital to have tests almost everyday all alone. Sometimes it's her former partner Prince Fabrizio Caleffi d'Alistal that accompanies her. Of course he was sitting next to her yesterday too.

Kyara was hosted at "LaVitaInDiretta" once again this evening.
She announced that Amedeo accepted to meet her next Monday.

Ginevra, the daughter of Duke Amedeo di Savoia-Aosta and his ex mistress, Italian-Duch film director Kyara van Ellinkhuizen, was born last night some weeks before time. She weighted kg 2,800 at birth.

Tosca, do you have news of little Ginevra? I read she should be operated just after the birth, but didn't read on this matter.

According to what they said at "La Vita in Diretta" yesterday, she willbe operated tomorrow. She has to undergo stomach surgery.

Yesterday KvE was interviewed by the same old TV programme, on her daughter's health conditions: they kid had to undergo sort of complicated stomach surgery, but luckily things have gone well for her, although she's still incubated, as she was born one month before time.
Kyara also said that Prince Amedeo went to the Milan's clinic to see his newborn daughter, but he asked Kyara to be sent out of the room, which she did. Kyara told Amedeo's lawyer to get him acknowledge his daughter within three days from her birth, like required by the Italian law, but he refused, saying that there's someone in his family who requires a DNA test to be taken. Ironically little Ginevra was born on the 19th March, which is Father's Day in Italy.

I forgot to add that the girl received the names of Ginevra, Maria, Gabriella

he wants a dna test to confirm it is his daughter? didn't he confirm his new paternity through a mag months ago. i am getting confused...and honestly disgusted. a wanna-be celebrity mum and a papa who's forgetting his duties!

Kyara said it's a member of his family that wants a dna test, presumably his wife. Kyara also said that Amedeo will provide for the baby and that will accept full moral resposibility. I guess his wife has a hand in the matter. According to Kyara the other children of Amedeo were enthusiastic about this new little sister.

Thanks you for the report.
So it's confirmed the baby has Down-syndrome?

Yes, it is, although, according to an interview with Prince Amedeo by weekly mag "NOVELLA 2000", reported by the website Dagospia.it, when going out of the hospital Prince Amedeo said: "She looked very normal to me".
A friend of my brother's has a younger brother who has Down-syndrome, but his family realized that on when he was nearly one year old (it was over 30 years ago). He seemed to be perfectly normal until then.

Well, the other day I got to watch the little Ginevra on the TV. Actually what I could see was a little blonde/reddish haired head, she seems to have inherited from her Mom, and her cute little hands. The Italian law for minor protection is very strict, so you aren't allowed to publish any pics of kids under 18 without their parents' permission.
Once again Kyara said that Amedeo is going to undergo a paternity test in a couple of weeks, under the pressure of one of his family members.

According to this weeks "CHI" mag, Prince Amedeo and his former mistress Kyara met at a well known clinic in Milan for the DNA test.
When seeing him arrive escorted by some body-guards, Kyara asked him: "Who do you think you are? Mick Jagger?"
After taking the paternity test Kyara wanted him to go and see their daugther, who's still hospitalized, but the Duke answered he had experienced too much emotion on that day, so she smacked him.
To be continued...

More news about Mrs. Kyara van Ellinkhuizen, ex-mistress of Duke Amedeo di Savoia-Aosta, and her little daughter Ginevra. Yesterday there was a new coverage on them. Kyara allowed the kid to be pictured on the TV.
Ginevra is undobtedly affected with the Down syndrome, however she's so cute with her chubby cheeks. Her health conditions have surely
improved since she had surgery.
The DNA test results proved that Amedeo is Ginevra's father. But he still hesitates to visit his daughter in the hospital.

From this week's "CHI" mag, Novella 2000 and Dagospia:

Amedeo of Savoy-Aosta has eventually recognized the little Ginevra (Ginni) as his daughter, after the DNA test reults came out. So Ginni will receive her father's surname. The article, though, doesn't mention if the girl is going to receive any title as well. I doubt it...

Kyara van Ellinkhuizen, Prince Amedeo of Aosta's ex mistress, arrived at Potenza's prison, in order to hand over Vittorio Emanuele some of his personal belongings (olycom)

I don't know much about Italian royalty so i hope you won't mind explaining to me...
-Who is he excatly?
-What role does he play in the italian royal family?
-Who is he related to (i mean house - - hasburg? or some other family)?
-Is that a good thing or a bad thing that he is a duke of Savoy and not Aosta?
-What is the or is there any diffrence between the titles duke of aosta and savoy?
Thank you

In addition to the previously asked questions, if anyone knows at this point please assist with the following:

Does Emanuel Filiberto retain his title? What about Marina?

Does the Italian government have any say in this action? Is this crown council the final authority regarding this issue?

Do Amadeo & descendant retain titles of Duke of Aosta?

Do Almanach de Gotha, et.al., recognize this as a valid proclamation?

Thanks for any assistance!

Emanuele Filiberto's title was given to him at birth and by the King Umberto II himself. So I would say that it cannot be taken away. Furthermore, Amadeo is not laying claim to Prince of Venice or Piedmont or Vittorio's title of prince of Naples, he is simply calling himself Duke of Savoy--the true title of the head of the house. If Vittorio keeps the title of Prince of Naples then Marina remains Princess of Naples.

The Italian government will not take any action. The Constitution of the Italian Republic does not recognize royal or noble titles. This dispute has no bearing on the republic or its governing functions. Therefore the government will likely consider this family squabble to be just that, and a non-issue.

Do Amadeo & descendant retain titles of Duke of Aosta?

Yes, he should. It is the primary title of his line of the family.

Do Almanach de Gotha, et.al., recognize this as a valid proclamation?

Probably not.

According to one of the documents posted on the Duke of Savoy's website, Vittorio Emanuele's sister Princess Maria Gabriella is supporting Amedeo.

Also, Aimone (Olga of Greece's fiance) is now the Duke of Aosta.

I have a feeling that they will be forced to. I think that the Duke of Savoy's case is practically airtight. I mean not only does the Aosta branch support him, but as I said before, so does one of VE's sisters (not sure whether the other two will get involved). And the Council of the Senators of the Italian Kingdom (which was founded in 1955) supports Amedeo as well.

Vittorio Emanuele technically lost his rights when he married Marina Doria without Umberto's permission. And on top of that he had to renounce his claims when he moved back to Italy. Not only that but his actions in the past and present make VE very undesirable as the Italian claimant, even aside from the academic arguments.

Well, the official historian of the Savoy family when interviewed by Italian mag OGGi, said that Umberto II of Savoy before dying, ordered that all the seals of the House of Savoy to be put in his coffin and buried with him. This putting an end to the Savoy dinasty. Therefore officially there can't be any head of the House of Savoy after his death any more.
