I don't like recolored either. It was a ripoff even buying it. No wonder it was 30 dollars. The whole program is cheap. My colorings came out horribly. It was absolutely embarassing. The good coloring programs cost 60 dollars and above!

Thanks!! well, yes i use recolored . I got the program for free and suits me very well since doesnt occupate much space on my computer and its easy to use. I couldnt change it for any other program!

You're so lucky, you got a coloring program for free. I remember trying recolored and I wasn't happy with it, because there is not tools to enhance the quality and make it clearer.

I've been using Adobe Photshop 7 for a year now, and I'm satisfied with it. The program is very easy for me to use and color quickly.

In the French Rev... Marie Antoinette was made into a hate figure and it was used
by revolutionary forces to ridicule the Monarchy and incite the population.
This was often done with illegal printing presses printing what was virtually pornography
with Marie Antoinette playing a central role.

I read somewhere that similarly in the Russian Rev.. Alix became a hate figure
and was used by the Revolutionaries to stir up the populace.

It's very sad how Alix was being blamed for Russia's revolution and was accused of being a German spy. Many others, like Grand Duchess Ella, tried to warn Alexandra of how dangerous Rasputin was. Of course, she was stubborn and refused to listen to anyone. Alix even hired and fired on governer positions based on what Rasputin told her. I think her faith in Rasputin help cause the Russian Revolution and destroy the dynasty. Rasputin was used by a secret group behind the communist revolutionaries, which acted to destroy the Romanov dynasty and the monarchy.

It all was terrible because her son, Alexei was very ill and she didn't have much help. Since Rasputin was there to stop Alexei's bleeding Alix had no other choice but to trust him.

Before Rasputin died, he told Alix and she and her family would die within 2 years. Since she believed everything that Rasputin said, she definitetly was worried and very sad during her last months of her life.

I recently read the autobiography of Elinor Glyn...." Romantic Adventure...."
well worth a read if you can get hold of it.
Elinor was of course the writer of racy novels in the Victorian era
in later life she even went to Hollywood to write and direct movies ! she had a
certain old world style that Hollywood was much in need of at the time.
She also travelled widely in Europe.. including Russia.......

.......... " In Moscow I was shocked to find that the Empress's unpopularity
amounted to hatred ... even as early as 1910 .
Because of her English descent I felt a natural sympathy for her.... but gradually I
came round to the general view of her as the evil genius of the country.

I was told that the Emperor was a genuinely nice man and capable of being friendly and human... when not under the influence of the Empress.... who... from the first, seemed to shed an atmosphere of unhappyness and dread over the whole court.
He would have liked to have enjoyed the companionship of the ladies of the Court... but the Empress would not allow it keeping him alone with her at Tsarskoe Selo... his only relaxation being regimental dinners with men where far too much wine was drunk.

She was of course strongly reactionary in her politics and in her later years seems to have imagined herself a second Catherine the Great . She appeared to have a positive hatred for the Russian people and to have determined to flout all their prejudices from the beginning.
Rasputin had originally been brought to the Court by the Duchess of Leuchtenberg.. a Montenegrin.
The Empress at that time had a great friendship with one of her ladies in waiting. This lady fell under the spell of Rasputin and she became his mistress.
She then introduced Rasputin to the Czarina who also fell under his influence and believed that he could cure her son.
The whole story is too appalling and only madness will explain it !

I think had Nicholas and Alexandra been more open about why Rasputin was in the palace, instead of keeping their son's illness secret because they wanted him to be seen as a strong heir, people would have realized that madness wasn't the explanation, nor was the explanation the untruth that Alexandra and Rasputin were having an affair. But, it was easy to assume when you didn't know, and so the reputation of Alexandra got even worse after Rasputin was with the IF. Not that Rasputin should have been there of course.

I started a Fergie thread with pics, the whole
thread was deleted.
This has made me give up the ghost with this forum
the mods are just a bit too precious..... as far as pics are concerned.........
and a forum...( like a book....) without
pictures .... is very dull indeed.

...and a Forum that ceases to exist because the owner has been sued for breach of copyright is even less appealing.

It's quite simple:
photos subject to copyright cannot be posted directly to the Forums;
photos not subject to copyright (most everything first published prior to 1923, or photos taken by yourself, or public domain and "free use" photos) can be posted directly.

Thus pictures of the late Imperial Family may be freely posted; pictures of Sarah Ferguson (unless taken by yourself) may not.
