I am deeply saddened by the death of Abdolreza Ansari. He was a worthy and honest official and a noble servant of the nation who immediately upon his forced migration from the country, began working for its liberation. He continued this struggle until his last days. I extend my deepest sympathies to his loved ones, including his wife Mari and his children Nazenin, Katayoun, and Mohammad Reza. May his memory live on.
As the people of Iran are on the streets calling for the end to the Islamic Republic, I spoke with AFP and called on Western leaders to halt negotiations in Vienna and engage in a direct dialogue with the secular, democratic opposition. The Iranian people are demanding it.
