How horrible! This is the first time that I have heard of this (and I live in the US). I am so sorry for his family's loss.

Wow, how sad. He was an Ivy League professor and had many interests. Here's an article from NY Sun. Don't know if the said review was current or what. But it does make you wonder.

Fürst Friedrich of Solms-Baruth demands 7000 ha. of land back that was coinfisquated by the Nazi's from his grandfather. The grandfather, Fürst Friedrich Herman was arrested as he was suspected from being involvewd in the failed plot to kill Hitler in 1944. He was forced to give away his properties to the Nazi's. It was later all confisquated by the Russians.
The exact value is difficult to estimate, but it should be at least 7 million euros. In 2003 the family already got 3658 ha. of land back located in the states of Brandenburg and Sachsen-Anhalt.

And another birth: Count Friedrich of Ortenburg and his wife Freiin Christine von Wangenheim became parents of a son named Alexei Friedrich Julius. Friedrich is the only son of Count Botho of Ortenburg and his wife Freiin Ilse von dem Bussche Hadenhausen, who is distantly related to Gosta von den Bussche-Haddenhausen, mother of the late prince Claus of the Netherlands.
An interesting detail: Christine von Wangenheim was mentioned as a possible bride for Felipe, just before his engagement to Letizia Ortiz was announced.

And due to the birth of Johannes of Bentheim-Steinfurt the anscesteral schloss will be closed to the public in the next years. They want to rotect the privacy of the young prince and want to give him a care free upbringing, which they do noit think is possible with having too many visitors around.
