Alexia of Greece, the daughter of former King Constantine and his wife Ana Maria, proudly cradled her newborn baby daughter on Sunday as she left a Barcelona hospital.

Emerging into the Spanish sunshine, the new mum was accompanied by her husband, Carlos Morales, and her first child, one-year-old Arrietta. "Ana Maria looks like the Greek branch of the family, while Arrietta looks more like my family," said Canary Islands-born Carlos of his new daughter.

The four-day-old child - who was named after her royal grandmother, Ana Maria - was also joined by both sets of grandparents as she greeted the world for the first time.

Check out the fist Arrietta is making. Wonder if it's a reaction to the press or to the fact that she will now have to share her parents! :p

Many thanks for the beautiful photos. Doesn´t Arrieta look just like her mother as child! Cute! :flower:

Thank you for all of the wonderful photos Alexandria. :) I always enjoy looking at photos of GRF because they always seem to be so happy to be together and appear to be enjoying themselves. :)

Jacqueline, you're very welcome. I am pleased to share them with others who enjoy them as well. The Greek royals are a very happy and joyful bunch!

Yes, thank you Alexandria for the wonderful photos! Little Arietta is just adorable (what long eyelashes she has!) and her little sister is just precious. Of course I think that Alexia and Carlos are such an attractive couple....

http://nyhederne.tv2.dk - From the Scandinavian Royals message board, I read that King Constantine was booed at when he arrived for the baptism. Maybe someone can shed more light on this story?

From the Scandinavian Royals Message Board, a translation by Netty on the baptism.

Cheering and Booh-crying for Konstantinos.

Greek ex-king Konstantinos has become carefully in public during his vacation in Greece, while in the weekend he and his wife Anne-Marie experienced how the balance stands.

On Saturday Konstantinos and Anne-Marie's grandchild was christened only a day after they were received with booh-crying at a theatre performance.

On Friday they attended a performance of the tragedy 'Elektra' at the ancient theatre in Epidauros, but heard booh-crying and applause. The boohing people boohed over the applauding people, and Konstantinos became so influenced by the episode, that for once he didn't want to comment to the Greek television, that follows him everywhere.

There are however also supporters of Konstantinos in Greece. Saturday about 100 monarchists from all over the country came to the royal christening, in agreement with Konstantinos' wish for a private family celebration at the Greek-Byzantine monastery Pantanassos at the Peleponnes.

Monarchists carried big portraits of Konstantinos and Anne-Marie with them and thus expressed their deepest wish to have them on the throne.

Princess Alexia, Konstantinos and Anne-Marie eldest daughter, and her Spanish husband Carlos Morales Quintana christened their second daughter, who got the name of her maternal grandmother, Anne-Marie.

Konstantinos two sisters, the Spanish queen Sophie and Princess Irene came to the christening. It was the first time the three were together in Greece since Konstantinos had to fly with Queen Anne-Marie and the children in 1967, after they had tried to make the then military dictatorship fall.

The biggest Greek tv-channels showed both christening and theatre episode, which is contrary to the silent receiving they usually have everywhere. A spokesman of the Greek government said, that the ex-king should take care where he shows up, as there is applause as well as oppossition at each showing up.

The former royal couple will travel back to London later this week, but have planned to come back to Athens later on.

Great pictures, Josefine! I cannot believe how grown up Phillippos looks. I hardly recognized him in the pictures. Alexia's skirt was fabulous and so was Sofia's outfit. Nice to see Sofia, Irene and Constantine back in their birth country again. I know Sofia has been back to Greece as the Queen of Spain and that Constantine has made a few visits (though with many restrictions by the government), but can anyone tell me if Irene has been back to Greece before?

very nice pictures.

how is the woman next to nikolaos, a sister of carlos?
there are any pictures of cristina, she should be there, but I couldn´t found her.

I don´t think that she is pregnant, it´s the same like her hair.
poor boys of her - they look so depressed, not like lucky kids.

Does anybody know who the baby's godparents are? Thanks.

Thank you, Josefine and Alexadria, for those beautiful pics.
How big have prince Paul´s children already grown! :flower:

Are you referring to the seventh picture down from page 2 of Nikolaos? I think the woman in the black and pink floral dress is a reporter. It looks sort of like she has some cable wires for a microphone around her.

As for Cristina, I thought she was sailing with her father and brother? I know she and Alexia are close and she would seemingly should be there, but perhaps the sailing event was scheduled months before the baptism and Cristina couldn't get out of it.

yes I mean this foto, thanks.

I was wondering, because it was announced that Cristina would be there.

Has anyone bought any magazines with photos of this christening? Could someone scan some and post them? I haven't really seen any good photos of Anna-Maria and her sister, Arrietta.

Beautiful photos indeed. What a beautiful family!

from GRF's Official Website :

Anna-Maria, second daughter to HRH Princess Alexia and Mr Carlos Morales Quintana, was christened on Saturday 19th July, at 6.00pm, at the Monastery Pantanassa, located between Porto Heli and Kranidi, Peloponnesus in Greece.

With all due respect, Hellas (Greece) is a sovereign State, a Parliamentary Democracy with a President as head of State. The President is elected every five years by the majority of votes in Parliament. Thus, people ought to respect Hellas (Greece) and its people, the Hellenes and not publish such terms as "king of the Hellenes". King Constantine, was annointed and reigned and therefore is entitled to be referred to as King but he is formerly of the Hellenes, instead of "of the Hellenes".

It's nice that Ana-Maria was christened in Greece. :) The christening seemed lovely, intimate and sweet!

Constantine is still accorded something akin to the titles he used while reigning. He is no longer HM The King of the Hellenes, but is rather HM King Constantine of the Hellenes in guestlists. He is sometimes listed as HM The Former King of the Hellenes or HM King Constantine, Former King of the Hellenes by diplomatic channels. You shouldn't expect the press to get titles right, though. Queen Elizabeth has been called HRH by British citizens and in British press for years now -- and they really should know better.
