Beautiful and unusual name, but steeped in Royal French history. My first thought too, is that she is named Elisabeth-Charlotte after the Duke d'Orleans-Prince Regent's daughter.?

Congratulations to the family! :flowers: ?
Interesting name indeed. Marie-Charlotte is more predictable though I would love to know the story behind Jacinthe (which I much prefer from the English Jacinta).

Congratulations to them…. beautiful and not frequently used nowadays name.

I like it, especially her fist name! A hyphenated name as middle name is a little unusual, so it indeed must be after someone with that hyphenated name.

That was quick!

Princess Jacinthe Elizabeth Charlotte was baptized today Saturday, 13 October, in the Saint-Pierre church, in Dreux.

Thanks. The article says that Jacinthe was chosen because it is not only a beautiful name but also a beautiful flower from the same family of the Lys, the symbol of the Bourbons. The names Elizabeth-Charlotte refer to Liselotte, Prinzessin von der Pfalz, the wife of Philippe, Duc d'Orléans, brother of Louis XIV, Roi de France.

Context of recent canonization of Jacinta Marto (and her brother Francisco) was also important, according to the text; so at least partly my suggestion was right.

Wow, that is early indeed. I wonder why the christening took place now - though in some ways it's a good idea of releasing first and christening photos all in one. I'm sure something would have been announced otherwise so I'm hoping that little Jacinthe is healthy.
Jacinthe is a beautiful baby and the Vendomes are a lovely little - or quite big now - family. Love that Antoinette has dressed up in a little headdress! :D

Nice to see la Duchesse de Montpensier and her Daughter Blanche.
No show up from the Comte de Paris.

The Duke and Duchess of Vendôme: June 2009-

For those who are interested in religion, it’s worth reading up about the story of Saint Jacinta and her siblings, who came from a Portuguese hamlet near Fátima. They claimed to see visions of angels though Saint Jacinta very tragically died during the international influenza epidemic after WWI in 1920 at the age of 10.

Incredibly fast ! Lovely to see Blanche and the Duchess of Montpensier looking in good health after all her problems

The Duke of Vendôme attended the 'Less Saves The Planet' dinner organized by Fadi Joseph Abou at the Three Crowns Hotel in Vevey, Switzerland yesterday, December 6:

Monseigneur le duc de Vendôme, the new head of the House of France

Direct descendant of the King Saint Louis
The family of Monseigneur le duc de Vendôme reigned over France for nine centuries, from Hugues Capet to Louis-Philippe.

Legitimate heir of forty kings who made France
Monseigneur le duc de Vendôme is, since the death of his father on Monday January 21st 2019, the new head of the Royal House of France. If the French made the decision to renew the thread of their history, he would reign under the name of Jean IV de France.

Prince Jean d'Orléans
The prince was born on May 19th 1965 in Boulogne-Billancourt. As son of the Comte de Paris, Henri VII de France and of princess Marie-Thérèse von Württemberg, duchesse de Montpensier, prince Jean is related to most royal families reigning in Europe. In Amboise, in 1987, the year of the celebration of the Capetian millennium, prince Jean was titled duc de Vendôme by his grandfather, the Comte de Paris, Henri VI de France.

Education
In his academic career, the prince has had the constant zest to develop his capacities for analysis and reflection, and to deepen his knowledge of contemporary political, social and economic realities. Prince Jean holds a Master's degree in philosophy at the Sorbonne. His thesis focused on the actuality of the concept of common good. Prince Jean also obtained a Master of Law, specializing in the field of international relations. The prince finished his degree with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Los Angeles (California).

Military and professional career
The prince performed his national service as an officer: after four months of classes at l’École de cavalerie de Saumur, he was assigned to command a platoon of tanks at the 7e régiment de chasseurs à cheval in Arras. His professional life then led him to assume responsibilities in the field of management consulting and business organization, then in the banking sector.

Marriage and family
On May 2nd 2009, prince Jean married at the cathédrale Notre-Dame de Senlis with Mademoiselle Philomena de Tornos y Steinhart, born June 19, 1977 in Vienna, daughter of Alfonso de Tornos y Zubiría and of Marie-Antoinette Edle von Steinhart, granddaughter of Juan de Tornos y Espelíus, former head of the personal secretariat of the Conde de Barcelona. Since 2011, Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess de Vendôme live at the domaine royal de Dreux with their five children:

  • The Dauphin, HRH The Prince Gaston of France
  • HRH The Princess Antoinette of France
  • HRH The Princess Louise-Marguérite of France
  • HRH The Prince Joseph of France
  • HRH The Princess Jacinthe of France
Dedication to France
As legitimate descendant of the French national dynasty, Monseigneur le duc de Vendôme fully assumes the tradition of dedication of his family in the service of France and the French of yesterday, today and tomorrow. He defines himself as a Christian prince and a French prince.

A French prince
As a prince turned towards the future, prince Jean has for several years traveled across France and met with actors in the economic, social, cultural and political life. He was able to acquire a precise, profound and general vision of our country. The prince completed this process with trips abroad where he was received not only as a witness of France's past but also as an embodiment of it's future. In October 2009, he made a first summary of his experience in his interview book Un prince français (Pygmalion ed.).

In this book, prince Jean discusses his personal destiny and his place in the Family of France, and presents the essential aspects of his commitment -as Prince de France- in the service of France and the French. As symbol of unity, living principle of identity, it represents the permanence which necessary for the good evolution of a changing world.

The benefit of natural legitimacy
Between the urgencies of globalization and the crisis and the need for identity and rooting, prince Jean wants to usefully occupy a place left vacant and yet indispensable for national interest. Many European countries benefit, each in their own way, from the benefit of the natural legitimacy offered by princely or royal families. Such presence ensures the sustainability of the common good of families, businesses and the nation.

As early as today, in France, prince Jean invites the French to listen to his voice.

Is he styling his son Gaston d'Orléans as Dauphin?

Yes, likewise the late Prince Henri styled eldest son Prince François as Dauphin and his second son Prince Jean as Régent du Dauphin. After the death of Prince François (one year ago) Prince Jean finally became the Dauphin himself.

Prince Jean's site bears the arms of the Dauphin indeed (not updated to the current situation as head of the House of France): Prince Jean de France

And all children are now styled ' the prince(ss) X of France'.

Is this really necessary? Idont think there is a snowballs chance in hell of the Monarchy being restored.. so why go on using the titles?

Yes usually the children of the Head of the House and his oldest son are "of France". Jean and his siblings where of France from their birth as where the children of the Comte de Paris who died in 1999.

Not necessary, they are and remain prince (princesse) d'Orléans but it just a positioning inside the very wide web of capétiens: traditionally sons and daughters of the King and of the Dauphin were fils (fille) de France, later prince (princesse) de France.

So I'm guessing that Jean won't be taking on the title of Comte de Paris?
