It depends in which language : in hispanic countries, women keep their birth name. Anyway, she would be royal highness by marriage, and duchess of Cadaval by herself. I do not know if this title can be worn by the husband, I think it can.

Thanks. This is going to be interesting. I will be surprised if there is not a big "Gotha" turnout for this wedding.

It is a very nice wedding, and the Orléans family have many cousins all around Europe!

Well, I asked a Portuguese friend of mine and he said that she/the family isn´t that wealthy according to him. Most of what she owns is tied up in real estate and art. She has one or two estates I believe.
Measures of wealth are always relative, but "art" and "one or two estates" sounds a lot more than most of us would have!

Which of the d` Orleans guys was once engaged to Tatjana Oldenburg (sister of Eilika Oldenburg, now married to Otto Habsburg´s son)? They broke up because of some religious reason and the Duchess of Paris didn´t approve because Tatjana is a protestant.

The ducal palace is stunning. I understand that this is where Diana and Charles-Philippe will have their principal residence, and they will also keep an apartment in Paris according to an interview I read in a French magazine.

Thanks so much for posting these photos. That's a very unusual looking engagement ring. What type of stone is that? It looks to be an heirloom.

You're welcome CaliforniaDreamin! :)

I do not know what kind of stone is that, and I agree it's very unusual and so big, but Beautiful!
The future wedding brings to mind the former Franco-Portuguese union of King Carlos I and Queen Amelie (former Princess d'Orleans).

Another picture of them

I believe that Charles Philippe lives in Spain.

They seem to be a very loving couple. On the subject of the engagement ring, wow!!! it is HUGE! I agree, it does look as if it has been in the family for awhile. That's great!

Last week's issue of Point de Vue with the announcement of the engagement states that he divides his time between Portugal and France(Paris) The article made no mention of his living in Spain.

Wow...they are almost like a storybook Royal couple. She is lovely, and he is very handsome. I am really looking forward to this wedding!

Prince Charles and Diana! I hope they live a long happy life together!

There's also where the ceremony is going to take place. You can see the Church of St. John Evangelist on the link I posted (which is part of the estate).

The Palace of the Cinco Quinas is partly setled on the Roman-Visigode walls of the old Castle of Évora (see the military contours of the building, as well as the tower of the main façade):

It was presented to the family by King D. João I, at the end of the 14th century.

Princess Isabelle of Orleans-Braganza, later Countess of Paris, and the late grandmother of Prince Charles-Philippe was born at the Chateau d'Eu. Her grandfather Prince Gaston was Count d'Eu and prince consort of the last Princess Imperal of Brazil.

I saw pictures of the palatine Church of St John the Evangelist in Point de Vue magazine a few weeks ago while reading an article on the restoration of the palace. It simply took my breath away...just beautiful.Thank you again for posting these stunning photos...I am soooo looking forward to this wedding!

The posts in this thread that deal about the dispute between the Cadaval sisters have been moved to this thread in the forum of Portuguese and Brazilian Royalty. Apart form that, Charles-Phillipe and Diane have their own current events now in the French forum, which can be found here. The dispute about the Anjou title can also be discussed there so we can keep this thread for discussing the actual engagement of the couple.

And according to Diário de Notícias, the daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Bragança, Infanta D.ª Maria Francisca, is one of the flowergirls that will escort Diana to the church, next June 21st.

According to Caras, not only Infanta D.ª Maria Francisca will be one of the flower girls, but D. Duarte Pio, Duke of Bragança, will also escort Diana down the aisle.
