Margaret of Scotland, Dauphine of France -Died August 16th,1445.

Margaret was the daughter of James I of Scotland and was married to the future Louis XI in June,1436.The marriage was unhappy and the Dauphine died aged 20 at Châlons-sur-Marne, France.Margaret is buried at the Church of Saint-Laon church, Thouars, France.

King James issued letters patent that stated his promise to marry Princess Margaret to the Dauphin Louis when they both reached the age of consent. Also negotiated as a marriage detail was that King James would send six thousand men to France to assist King Charles in war.

The Wedding took place at the castle chapel at Tours ,the French monarchy was bankrupt at that time from the wars against the English and simply could not afford lavish entertainments
