The dog's name is Léonore.
In French the breed is known as Terre-Neuve, a sort of retriever. I think the English call it a Newfoundlander because Terre-Neuve is Newfoundland in English.

The Count of Paris received, yesterday at the Château de Dreux, the President François Bonneau and the Vice-President of the Loire Valley Center Region Harold Huwart, both accompanied by Stéphane Bern for the reopening of the Royal Chapel at the prospects for tourism development in Dreux.

Prince Jean, Count of Paris, issued a statement on the death of George Floyd and the vandalism to a statue of King Louis XVI of France in Louisville, Kentucky.

:previous: What a sad shame. I appreciate HRH's comments.

I'm glad that Jean has made a statement about George Floyd's horrific murder and the brutal treatment of black people and minorities by the US police in general. There have been similar protests in Paris too, including black protestor Adama Traore ending up being killed in police custody.

The young Dauphin is really living an idyllic life at the wonderful royal domain of Dreux.

Look at the bond of trust that Gaston has formed with that tiny little bird...lovely!?

It's nice to see Gaston caring for the little bird. I wonder what kind of bird it is. He seems to be feeding it mealworms, and it's evidently very healthy. But mealworms alone aren't a balanced diet for a young bird. It should also be fed a bit of moistened dogfood, and some hardboiled egg. Gaston has clearly formed a bond with it.

The royal family clearly loves nature and animal life. Wonderful that the Count and Countess of Paris raise their children with great love for all creatures, great and small.

Wow that must be an uncomfortable situation for the family. :ermm:

I don't know much about the residences of the family. Do they own any out right to move into? Or are they all controlled by the foundation?

That sounds pretty bad. They must really feel that the board members of the foundation were trying to control every aspect of their lives and spy on them... Guess they lost sight of what the larger purpose is, that surely cannot be to drive away the family whose history you are to protect.

I've no idea how many (if any) residences that the Count of Paris owns privately. His grandfather created the Fondation Saint-Louis in the 1970s and placed all of the major real estate that the family owned into it. As a result, since Henri the Elder died, neither his son nor his grandson have ownership of those major family properties. Henri the Younger and Jean are simply "honorary presidents" of the foundation, which gives them no real voice.

It does not help that Henri the Elder did not stipulate that at least one of his descendants, if not the head of the family itself, had an actual seat on the board of directors of the foundation. This leaves the family at the mercy of the directors...at least as it concerns their usage of properties that the late Count of Paris owned outright himself.

This does indeed sound messy. The Orleans have a large family with five young children... at least two of whom are babies. Where did they move to?:ermm:

I see that as usual Stéphane Bern is in the middle of it all. If you wouldn't know any better you might think he himself was the pretender to the throne of France. Fortunately he seems to be trying to defuse the situation.

Quite curious that the situation has escalated to this extend. One wonders why the foundation feels the need to drive the count out of his house. Something that apparently they tried to do with the Duchess of Montpensier as well.

It was widely recognized as an act of spite that the late count of Paris did not include any of his descendants in the board of the foundation.

I remember some years ago that there was a rift between the Foundation St Louis and prince Jean about who should pay the fuel oil used by the family.

The Count of Paris has any job.

We know he owns part of the forest of Nouvion Thiérache (or probably owned until the beginning of this year) and he ceased to be the manager, officially because he didn’t have the time anymore because of his «*military studies*». Here you can see that the Forest of Nouvion en Thierache is now managed by Evrard de Turkheim from April 2020 (https://www.societe.com/societe/groupement-forestier-de-la-thierache-780204137.html)

Can it be that he sold it so he could buy a house for his family in the south of France?
