Perhaps a mixture of stylistic elements chosen to calm down the citizens of Liechtenstein, his subjects, the governed... I don't think, this is by any means an accident.

Prince Alois made a public statement on Radio L on Friday afternoon for the Corona crisis and answered questions from listeners:

"The Hereditary Prince is very satisfied with how Liechtenstein has mastered the pandemic challenge so far. But even in the second phase - that is, the phase of easing that starts from May 11 - discipline is required from the population. Despite the nice weather and spring, normalcy has not yet returned. It is still important to keep your distance and to follow the precautionary and hygienic measures. If that doesn't work, the police would have to carry out more checks. The hereditary prince said that the second phase had to be followed through consistently, even though it also presented many challenges for the population.

Swedish way was not an option for Liechtenstein
One listener wanted to know why Liechtenstein didn't just go the Swedish way. That would not have been an alternative and certainly not recommended, given the close relationship with Switzerland. Liechtenstein's health system is also closely linked to that of Switzerland, so it was clear that Liechtenstein would go the way with Switzerland through the pandemic.

The corona crisis will also have economic consequences for Liechtenstein. Nevertheless, Hereditary Prince Alois points out that last year the country of Liechtenstein reported a surplus of CHF 300 million. The support measures would amount to CHF 21 million a month, but if necessary, the government would put together a further package of measures for the companies concerned. But it could be expected that our national budget would show negative figures next year.

Every crisis also has opportunities
Hereditary Prince Alois is particularly satisfied with the solidarity and cohesion of the people in Liechtenstein. That is one of the strengths of our society that is firmly anchored. Taking local trade into account and shopping regionally are also part of this. The hereditary prince hopes that the solidarity of his fellow men will continue to count in the future. "

This is history: The Liechtensteins rode with the Habsburgs to fame, glory and riches; lost almost everything through confiscations in the second world war, since the Czechs falsly have been claiming, the Liechtensteins would be Germans. (I think, Liechtenstein is still not recognized by the Czech Republic because of this question.) But the House of Liechtenstein had a comeback as a banker family from out of Liechtenstein, the micro-state. And they are tremendously rich again.

Prince Alois received Franz Fischler Chairman of the Alpbach European Forum, Member of the Board of the Austrian-Liechtenstein Society (ÖLI).

At the reception in Vaduz Castle, Prince Alois presented him with the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Prince of Liechtenstein due to his special merits in relations between Liechtenstein and Austria.
