Kingdom of Tonga

I wonder whether the birth was scheduled (within a reasonable timeframe close to the due date of course). The couple married on the king's birthday and their elder daughter was born on that same date. Now the younger daughter is born on her mother's birthday.

So, it does seem a little too incidental that both births are on these very specific days. Looking for coincidence with the hereditary prince's birthday...

I don’t remember there being a Coronation for the new King. Was there one?

Oh, okay. I guess I forgot about it.

What a luck that the pandemic didn't reach Tonga.

What a luck that the pandemic didn't reach Tonga.

Oceania has had good luck, likely due to remoteness of many, of keeping the covid virus numbers down if not null. There are 10 sovereign states in Oceania that have not reported a case as of August 12, Tonga of course among them. Even those who have reported cases, the number of cases and number of deaths being extremely low. Outside Australia.

Its great seeing the Tongan royals setting a good example. Even in a country with no cases, precautions are still good thing.

Is it the norm for Tongans to reside abroad for long durations? If not, what is different for the royal family?

Most of the Pacific countries went into lockdown and stopped entry in an attempt to keep Covid at bay. This meant that nobody, not even members of the Royal Family, could return to the country. The Queen and her son had been in Auckland when the lockdown was announced and had to remain there for months. The lockdown had the desired affect as most Pacific countries have not had a single case of the virus.

Crown Princess Sinaitakala gave birth her fourth child a baby girl at the Calvary Hospital in Canberra, Australia on Thursday 25 February, and her name Princess Salote Mafile’o Pilolevu.

Congratulations to the parents and to the whole family on their new addition :flowers:

Her name honors Queen Salote Tupou III who reigned for 48 years from 1918-1965. The Queen whose full name was Sālote Mafile‘o Pilolevu (the full name of the new baby) was the great-grandmother of the Crown Prince. She shares the name with her father's Aunt, the princess royal.

The little princess is 5th in line to the throne.

Congratulations to parents, grandparents and big siblings!

Congratualations to the family! I am a bit surprised that the child was born in Canberrra, Australia instead of Auckland, New Zealand as it seemed the Crown princely couple resided in New Zealand most of the time. Probably the pandemic also impacted this change of birth location?
