I began to wonder about GD MT when her daughter in-laws began showing up in her old clothes. How controlling is that.

When MT began skipping out on State visits for vague reasons, I became suspicious.
And when she skipped Count Lannoy's funeral to attend a cocktail party in Paris with Brigitte Macron i was very suspicious indeed...it all started to fall into place.
Which is rather disappointing, because I have been posting about my admiration for GD Maria Teresa for years.

Come on please, what a nonsense.
Princess Margriet has worn dresses of her mother Queen Juliana. Queen Máxima and Princess Mabel have worn dresses of their mother-in-law Queen Beatrix. Crown Princess Victoria has worn dresses of her mother Queen Silvia. Etc.
It is haute couture, often worn only once or twice, no wonder daughters like to browse in their mother's unbelievable garderobe.

The examples you have posted are not the rule. Thev are the very rare exception.
Fwiw...i have no issues with the young Luxembourg Royal women wearing MT's hand me downs...if they are happy to do so.

No it is not the rule, but using the wearing of haute couture from their mother (in law) as "proof" of María Teresa being a controlling mum is nonsense.

Wow...that dress is gorgeous! I can very well see Queen Máxima in this!

I remember seeing a picture of Princess Mabel with the late Prince Friso wearing Princess Beatrix's engagement dress , so this wearing of a previous generations dress can also be a sign of respect / affection . Basing an assessment of GD MT character on the re-wearing of couture garments seems a little wide of the mark .

Princess Marie Astrid wore her late Mother's haute couture dresses for one of her Children 's Wedding.
This is out of topic but I am sure Marie Astrid , Jean , Margaretha and Guillaume must be sad about what arrived in their Court and on the first pages of the Press in Luxembourg

It is quite usual that mothers become emotional, seeing a child married.
Come on...

Yay , that's the picture , I loved it . Just goes to show that buying quality always pays . Sorry that this is not really on the topic . I do hope that the situation in Luxembourg is resolved soon , I have always felt that the GD, and GDss have a strong relationship , hopefully once the stress involved in micro -managing,[ which it appears the GDss has been doing ], the daily life of the household is removed the GDss will be even more effective in her charity endeavour's .

I've never heard this before. I thought that GD Josephine-Charlotte cried on her OWN wedding day.

She did. I have never in my life seen such a wretchedly unhappy looking Royal bride. Just look through the wedding thread photos.
In all fairness, Josephine-Charlotte was thought to have been ill with the flu on her wedding day. The honeymoon had to be postponed for that reason. Poor JC.

She may very well have been ill with the flu, but then again, isn't that exactly what you would say if something else was going on?
Poor GDJC, either way.
To tie this back... wasn't she known for being something of a controlling personality herself? Not to say that she's responsible for MT, but maybe it's something in the water?

I've always wondered what exactly happened at his enthronement, as I've read that he botched his lines.
Was he supposed to have memorized them? Was the error supposedly due to nerves or poor preparation?
What language is the Oath taken in - French or Luxembourgish?

Or perhaps both. It's really difficult for 2 headstrong people to get along. I suspect GDJ-C was not the easiest person to get along with but clearly neither was Maria-Teresa.
