If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
His Royal Highnesses, the Grand Duke, Prince Felix and Princess Claire, accompanied by their sons, as well as Prince Louis and Prince Guillaume attended the Mass celebrated in memory of the deceased members of the Grand Ducal Family.

If at some point it becomes obviously clear that Amalia will be the future grand duchess, I could see the grand duke (whether it be the current one or Guillaume) granting her and her younger brother the titles of prince(ss) of Luxembourg; for now, they are 'just' prince(ss) of Nassau.

Interesting that Guillaume and Stephanie weren't there, I thought they had moved back to Luxembourg now?

I guess it would be somewhat insensitive to make anything "official" about Amalia's possible succession as it would show/imply official recognition of the fact Gui & Steph can't or are unlikely to have children. For now there is still Guillaume and theoretically Felix's reign to get through so I don't see an announcement until Guillaume and Stephanie reach an old age at the minimum IMO.

Last week we saw an official act at the palace when Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, Duchess of Brabant, became 18. This was never done for her father King Philippe because back then at the age of 18: that was Prince Albert, Prince of Liège (Elisabeth's grandfather).

Princess Amalia of Nassau is in the same situation when she becomes 18. Not she is the heir but her uncle Prince Guillaume and then her father Prince Félix. And always and ever there is the chance that the hereditary grand-ducal couple "is in blessed circumstances". One never knows.

Nice to see Amalia and Liam there - sweet to see that Amalia bought a little plush friend along with her! ?
I agree that it's perhaps a bit insensitive to officially declare Amalia as the future Grand Duchess but at the way things have been heading it seems like that'll sadly be the situation. Having said that, Stephanie is only 35, so she could certainly still have a child in the next few years. My mother was 40 when she had me (but obviously didn't have a throne to worry about! :D) and Lady Nicholas Windsor had her latest child at 45, so hope hasn't been lost for Guillaume and Stephanie if they want to have children.

Is it the first time they join their parents for such an occasion (other than being at the balcony)? If so, it might be a first small step in preparing Amalia for her potential role as future heiress.

I am curious to know that as well.

It is a little surprising the Grand Duke's sisters were absent, since if my memory serves me correctly they are regular attendees at the corresponding event for the deceased members of the Belgian royal family.

Regarding succession and titles, I will post my replies in the specific thread.

Strange not to see the Grand Duchess present at the New Years reception.

Pregnancy suits Princess Stephanie. She appears entirely relaxed and comfortable, a look I'm not used to seeing with her.

The Grand Duchess was not present because she is with her brother who is in the hospital.

Agreed both ladies look lovely. Can anyone tell me why Stephanie's order is different from the rest?

Because she doesn't have the Order of the Gold Lion of the House of Nassau yet. Therefore, she is wearing her highest order: The order of Adolphe of Nassau. I expect her to be given the highest order when her husband becomes the grand duke and she will be the grand duchess.

Her sister-in-law Claire and former sister-in-law Tessy and the brothers/sisters-in-law of Henri (except for Diane who has no order it seems) have the order of Adolphe of Nassau but not the Order of the Gold Lion of the House of Nassau.

In this case, Wikipedia is your friend with an overview of the orders of the various family members.

It was a Grand Ducal Palace decorated with warm floral arrangements that hosted the New Year's reception last night. A variety of flowers and a range of colors selected by the Grand Duchess.

The Golden Lion of the House Nassau is a joint Order of the two Nassau branches. The Order aims to be "a symbol of the unity and the alliance of two branches of the House Nassau".

The statutes of the Order says that princes born to the head of the House are a Knight by birthright (but wear the decorations from the age of 18).

Stéphanie has not yet been bestowed this Order, I see. It is possible that Queen Beatrix or King Willem-Alexander would have bestowed it to her, but these creations are always in mutual agreement with the head of the other branch (Grand-Duke Henri).

I am not sure when Grand-Duchess Maria Teresa became a Dame in this Order. In 2000 upon accession of her husband?

Amazing. Usually it's business suits and nicer dresses for New Year receptions. I hope this new format (tiaras, orders and uniforms) is the standard for New Year receptions from now on.

According to people from Lucarazzi they've decided to cancel the evening gala on the the National day and instead make the New year's reception a gala. The National day celebrations will from now on end with the Te Deum.

As far as i recall GD Maria Teresa got the Order of the Lion of Nassau when her husband became Grand Duke. But still a bit strange that the wife of the Heir does not have the hightest Order of the country which is the case in all other monarchies with the exception of the UK.

Awe, that's unfortunate. More family members attend National Day than New Year Receptions.

I assume Princess Alexandra is substituting for GD Maria Teresa this year and not a regular appearance. Hopefully the Cour encourages the others to attend but I imagine it's difficult as Luxembourg's New Year reception varies from early to mid-January, not a set day like January 1st for Japan and Denmark.

ETA: However, I am glad the GDF decided to upgrade New Year's Reception instead of simply cancelling National Day gala.

I also read this on Twitter, but they were speculating on what I understood.
I hope the national day gala will continue, but this new year reception format will continue as well.

I'll miss the National Day gala very much, it's a great tiara highlight before the summer break. But seeing white tie at the New Year Reception is really lovely. Both ladies looked great, though I'd have loved to see the other siblings as well.
