Princess Nobuko visited the special exhibition Hidden Treasures from Afghanistan at the Tokyo National Museum on April 26th.

On April 30th, Princess Nobuko visited the 300th Anniversary Jakuchu Exhibition at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum.

Princess Nobuko attended the opening ceremony for the 18th International Roses and Gardening show in Tokorozawa, Saitama Prefecture on May 12th.

Prince Mikasa has been hospitalized for acute pneumonia. He was admitted to St. Luke's International Hospital in Chuo-ku, Tokyo on May 16th after several days of mild cold symptoms. Prince Mikasa was directly admitted after a low-grade fever was confirmed and eventually diagnosed with acute pneumonia.

Princess Akiko will also visit Spain and the UK from 20-26th as a visiting researcher. Visits to Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and British Museum are planned.

On May 23rd, the IHA reported Prince Mikasa is improving from acute pneumonia. His temperature returned to normal in the middle of last week and he no longer coughed. The Prince's discharge is undecided.

June 6th marked the fourth anniversary of the death of Prince Tomohito of Mikasa. His wife Princess Nobuko and daughters Princesses Akiko and Yoko attended a memorial ceremony. Other attendees included Prince Akishino, Princess Kiko, Princess Mako, Prince and Princess Hitachi, Princess Tsuguko, and Princess Ayako according to Asahi's schedule.

Prince Mikasa is still hospitalized for acute pneumonia. Princess Yuriko is absent due to fatigue.

Thanks. Early June must be a tough time for the Mikasa family. June 8th is the second anniversary of Prince Katsura's death.

Indeed let's hope she'll have a speed recovery! In the best of cases shingles is a nuisance, but usually it is very very painful.
 
On June 13th, Princess Yuriko was discharged from St. Luke's International Hospital.

On June 22, the IHA reported Prince Mikasa remains hospitalized at St. Luke's International Hospital. Although the pneumonia has subsided, the Prince will stay as a precaution due his advanced age and because his heart function has reduced a little. Prince Mikasa is working on rehabilitation by moving his limbs in bed and standing up from his wheelchair.

On June 19th, Princess Akiko gave a lecture in Kochi City for the book launch of "heart of Japanese Art" (Shogakukan). She spoke about the importance of incorporating Japanese culture in life from childhood. About 180 people participated and the visit was organized by the "Association to inviting the Princess Akiko to Kochi". It was her first time visiting Kochi.

Prince Mikasa received visits from his wife Princess Yuriko, his daughter-in-law Princess Hisako, and the Emperor and Empress on June 30th. The Imperial couple arrived at St. Luke's International Hospital around 4:45pm and stayed for about 20 minutes.

On July 1st, Princess Yoko attended the 46th society contributors award cremony at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Since 1971, the award recognizes people who saved lives in dangerous situations. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe also attended.

From 25th June to 27th June, HIH Princess Nobuko of Mikasa visited Fukuoka Prefecture to attend the 99th Lions Clubs International Convention. On 27th June, HIH Princess Nobuko visited Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine in Dazaifu City.

I see the byline is Princess Akiko rather than a "name" such as Mikasa no miya Akiko. Do the imperial family members habitually use their titles professionally?
 
On July 12th, the IHA announced Princess Yoko of Mikasa will privately travel to the US for the 7th International Institute for Applied Ergonomics Conference. She will depart on July 29th for the 5 day trip.

On July 14th, Princess Yoko visited the Miyagi prefectural government of Aoba-ku, Sendai for the announcement of the "sobering independence support" award, which honors individuals and organizations supporting people with disabilities. Social welfare corporation "Arinomamasha" is a sponsor and the late Prince Tomohito served as its president. Princess Yoko was appointed selection committee chairman of the award last October.

On July 24th, Princess Yoko attended the "18th sobering independence" award ceremony. President Nishihira Tetsuya of electric wheelchair company "Arowan" accepted the award. He has researched electric wheelchairs for 50 years, starting when he was 15 for his brother who had muscular dystrophy. Another recipient was Support Center Pia which helped disabled people near Fukushima.

The tournament is sponsored by All Japan Kendo dojo Federation, Mainichi Newspapers, and Lion Corporation. Princess Yoko encouraged "win or lose, please face the game so as not to leave regrets."

On July 29th, Princess Yoko departed from Narita Airport for Florida, USA to attended the international ergonomics conference. She has served as the president of the Japanese organization and will give a lecture.
