On August 30th, Princess Hisako gave lecture about Netsuke at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

Her visit also coincides with the 15th anniversary of the Prince Takamado Japan Centre for Teaching and Research at the U of A, named after her late husband. The couple met at the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo and Prince Takamado studied at Queen’s University, the start of a “deep affinity” for Canada for both.
The university also awarded the princess an honorary law degree in 2004.
U of A Dean of Arts Lesley Cormack said the support of the princess and her husband is an important part of bringing “the world to our campus and our campus to the world.”
[....]
Afterwards, Princess Takamado delivered a lecture on her PhD topic, Netsuke traditional carvings, to a crowd of community members and dignitaries — including Alberta Lt.-Gov. Lois Mitchell and the Japanese Consul General in Calgary Shigenobu Kobayashi — at the faculty club on campus.
“I hope that (the visit) will bring that visibility, that it will help us renew our relationship with the princess and our Japanese partners, and that we will come up with some more interesting new projects to work on together,” said Cormack.

ETA: Princess Takamado of Japan visits U of A - The Gateway
Quote:
[...] During her lecture, Princess Takamado explained the different Netsuke statues and how their intricacy attracted western collectors.
“The Netsuke, though tiny in size, played as goodwill ambassadors, tying the West and Japan.”
First-year international and visiting student certificate program participant Shingo Murata remarked on how he had to travel across the world for a chance to see Princess Takamado.
“I’m proud of Japan. In Japan I can’t meet her, but here I can meet her so I feel happy,” he said.
[...]
Lesley Cormack, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, said the university has shared an “intimate connection” with the princess since she received her honorary degree in law in 2004.
“The princess, who is an alumnus of the university, contributes and guides the [Prince Takamado] Centre’s initiatives,” she said. “The princess’ interests help shape the initiatives, mainly encouraging students to learn Japanese, but also other connections we share with Japanese institutions.”
Cormack said the U of A works closely with 39 partner institutions in Japan for research, student exchanges, and international learning opportunities.
“We have a good network with other Japanese universities… because of our relationships with the princess,” Cormack said.

On August 31st, Princess Hisako attended the Nikkei Matsuri Festival in Burnaby, British Columbia.

Quote:
[...] "Matsuri festivals are held all over Japan and some of the histories go back for absolutely centuries," Princess Takamado said to the crowd. "Though the matsuri around the world differ in many ways, they all share the fact that they bring people together in a celebration of life."
The princess also took time to reflect on her visit so far and the importance of her country's "friendly relationship" with Canada.
"My late, Canadian-educated husband often spoke about Canada's mosaic culture and how we should try to create more such societies worldwide," she said. "Today, when we see so much divisiveness it becomes even more evident that the basis of human society is about inclusion and thrives on communities getting together." [...]

And thank you for locating the photos and information from the many various sources! (It would be nice if the IHA would do the same ...)

The IHA has the authority to preapprove photos taken by private citizens even when abroad? That seems a bit overbearing, but perhaps there is something I am missing.

Maybe that event was more private than others? I don't know.
Recently, Princess Hisako was spotted bird watching at Takatoyama Park in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture.

Edmonton Japanese Community Association has an article about Princess Hisako's Netsuke lecture when she visited Canada. Page 6 of September - October PDF
Quote:
[...]
Netsuke are small toggles, made of many materials such as wood, ivory or ceramics. They were originally vital to anchor sagemono, a hanging object such as a tobacco pouch, from the obi (belt) of a man’s kimono, since the traditional Japanese garment had no pockets. As many Japanese moved to western dress after the 1868 restoration of the Meiji and the opening of the country to the world, these tiny works of art (always having two holes, to attach the sagemono cord) lost their utilitarian purpose. But they then took on a completely new role, as easily transportable works of art to feed the growing western fascination with everything Japanese. [....]
[...] The earliest examples presented by Her Imperial Highness were shaped as round disks with relatively low relief carving – so as not to catch and damage the cloth. She traced the evolution of the use and styles of netsuke through many period paintings and artworks, used by scholars as dating tools. Over time, netsuke became more and more elaborately carved with fine detail. Animals, birds, zodiac figures and ghosts all became popular subjects, providing, as Her Imperial Highness noted, “a gateway into Japanese mythology.”
At the end of her lecture, Her Imperial Highness took questions from the audience, giving detailed answers that only hinted at her obvious depth of knowledge on the topic. But she also revealed interesting personal stories, such as the fact that it was she who first introduced her late husband to netsuke, and that his first gift to her before they were married was in fact, a netsuke.

Princess Tsuguko visited Ibaraki Prefecture October 4-5 for the 74th National Sports Festival. She seems popular. I've found the most photos of her visit compared to Hisako, Akiko, and Yoko. (Not counting Naruhito, Masako, and Akishino family since they usually get media coverage)

ETA: Princess Hisako's speech at the 16th Japan Football Hall of Fame Induction ceremony on September 10th.
Mr. NISHINO Akira, Mr. OKADA Takeshi, and Mr. SASAKI Norio inducted into the Japan Football Hall of Fame - The 16th selection of Japan Football Hall of Fame inductees | Japan Football Association
Quote:
I would like to truly congratulate Mr. NISHINO Akira, Mr. OKADA Takeshi, and Mr. SASAKI Norio for their induction to the Japan Football Hall of Fame. Mr. NISHINO and Mr. OKADA were the coaches of the “Japan National Team,” while Mr. SASAKI was the coach of the “Nadeshiko Japan.” A national team coach must assemble individual talents to build a team, analyse opposing teams within a limited time, construct the team strategy, and make decisions on how to approach each match. I can only begin to fathom the pressure they endure while taking responsibility to lead the team that represents Japan. However, these three individuals have overcome that pressure. I believe that it is no longer a dream to see Japan rise as champions at the FIFA World Cup someday. I am also looking forward to seeing a Japanese coach being offered with a coaching position for the national team of football powerhouses in Europe and South America. I sincerely hope that the induction of these three individuals can motivate variety of people and help energise the Japanese football community.
