Princess Hisako will informally visit Canada from August 23 to September 2nd. She will participate in Japan-Canada relations 90th anniversary events, attend the opening of Montgomery Park, meet Nikkei, pay a courtesy visit to the Governor-General of Canada, and have luncheon with the Vice-Governor of Ontario.
This is Princess Hisako's 10th visit to Canada since 1987 including 6 trips with her late husband Prince Takamado.

Princess Tsuguko is such an interesting individual, she's got a little spirit to her that makes me wonder how comfortably she fits into the Imperial family's machine. I'm happy to see her taking on a few more engagements, and hope to see more of her in the future.

Princess Takamado's three daughters are lovely and full of life. Like their mother.

I agree, and I find it interesting that a mother who, if the gossip magazines can be believed, has quite traditionalist attitudes surrounding marriages for her daughters nonetheless raised three daughters who, once more if the magazines can be believed, seem to be considered fairly free-spirited by the standards of the imperial family.

Yes, they come across as having much more distinct and defined personalities than say, Princesses Mako and Kako. From what I have read about her, Princess Hisako has a very firm grasp on the kind of marriages that would be acceptable for imperial princesses, and worked to promote those kinds of unions. How successful Noriko's marriage is might be open to debate ( I always thought that one was kind of odd), and Tsuguko so far seems to have eluded capture, but it is definitely an interesting family to watch.

I think we'll see more of Princess Kako's personality now that she's graduated from university and will focus on public service. From past engagements, she appears to be more animated at times than Mako who seems reserved/perpetually serene. Nothing wrong with that. There's probably also additional pressure to behave in a certain way since the Akishino branch has higher precedence than the other Imperial branches.
The magazines' depiction of Princess Hisako reminds me of Mrs. Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. Yeah... I've wondered about Noriko's marriage as well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Found more info about Princess Hisako's informal visit to Canada (I wish the IHA would provide a schedule...)
She will attend Nikkei festivals in Vancouver on August 31 and pay a courtesy call to Janet Austin, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, in Victoria on September 1st.

ETA: She'll give a public lecture on "Netsuke and the role they played in introducing Japan to the West" at the University of Alberta in Edmonton on August 30. (Register before August 22)

Yes, it will be interesting to see how Princess Kako's public personality develops over time, or if the pressures of being the Akishino princesses manages to crush out any hint of individuality for Mako and Kako.
Princess Hisako as Mrs Bennet, only without the vulgarity and stupidity? I can see that I've also always wondered if part of her motivation is to get her daughters safely out of the clutches of the Imperial machine. She's intelligent enough to have recognized that after a certain point, the priority might be to have warm bodies to support the work of the Imperial family, and princesses leaving the family might be strongly discouraged--as I believe we see hints may be happening with Mako and Kako.
I'd love to hear the lecture, just as I would have loved to see the exhibit of the Takamado netsukes.

The princess is the international patron of the Lucy Maud Montgomery Institute and will take part in the official opening of the new Montgomery Park and Green Gables Visitor Centre.
Cora MacDonald, an Island taxi driver, said she was parked outside the Charlottetown Airport in a line of taxis when a security guard informed her the princess would be landing.
MacDonald left her post outside the airport and sat on a bench inside and said she was excited to see the princess land.
"I wanted to see a real princess, I never seen one before," MacDonald said, adding the idea of a princess visiting P.E.I. is kind of romantic.
While Princess Takamado is on the Island she will be visiting UPEI and touring Sekisui Diagnostics.

With the inclusion of meetings highlighting Canadian government, the arts, children's welfare, history, and cultural exchange, this unofficial visit appears more developed than many official visits!
