Princess Hisako resigned as honorary president of Japan-Egypt Association due to its dissolution on September 30. The association was founded in 1995. Prince Takamado became honorary president in 2001. After his death, Hisako succeeded the role in 2003.

On October 6th, Princess Hisako began a 2-day visit to Gifu Prefecture. She visited Gifu Mokuyukan, a children's hall to learn about forests and trees, in Gakuencho, Gifu City. She will attend the 35th Housing Month's central event "Gifu Housing Fair 2023" at the Prefectural office the next day.

Princess Hisako has regularly attended housing fairs, which began in 1989 hosted by various prefectures, since its 2nd event. Gifu Prefecture aims to realize a "decarbonized society," with virtually zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The first step is to create homes with high energy efficiency.

On October 8th, Princess Hisako began a 2-day visit to Fukui Prefecture. She visited the astronomical telescope at the Prefectural Nature Conservation Center and attended the "35th Starry Sky City・Blue Sky Town" National Convention in Ono City.

ETA: On October 9th, Princess Hisako visited COCONO Art Place in Motomachi, Ono City, Fukui Prefecture. The gallery is located in a renovated traditional house. She appreciated works collected by people in the 1950s through the Small Collectors Movement to support young painters.

On October 15th, Princess Tsuguko attended the sumo competition at the Kagoshima National Athletic Meet and visited the Naze Sports Park Sundome, as part of the celebrations for the National Sports Festival in Kagoshima Prefecture.
Afterwards, she visited Amami Nature Observation Forest in Tatsugo City and Amami Park in Amami City.

Tsuguko was the only member of the imperial family to attend the National Sports Festival celebrations in Amami City.

Hope the Kagoshima publishes a summary of events like Tochigi. Hisako didn't get any official news coverage... yet? Her daughter Tsuguko and Mikasa princesses got at least 1 major or local press report.

On October 19th, Princess Tsuguko and Japan Committee for UNICEF held classes for elementary and junior high schools in Yamagata Prefecture. The class explained situations of children around the world in developing countries and conflict areas. 7 students from Yamagata City Zao Third Elementary School and Zao Second Junior High School participated.

Princess Tsuguko served as instructor for 2nd to 4th graders, where discussions cited the escalating Israeli-Palestinian conflict and flood damage in Pakistan after heavy rains. Water jugs were prepared for children to try carrying as clean water is not widely available.

The Imperial Household Agency announced Princess Hisako has been appointed honorary president of Nippon Badminton Association on November 1st.

The honorary position is new. Princess Hisako was requested because she has attended events sponsored by the association and her wealth of knowledge.

In response, President Mitsuru Murai, former chairman of the Soccer J League, released a comment: "Today, we received a very grateful message from the Imperial Household Agency. It has been decided that Her Imperial Highness Princess Hisako, will be appointed Honorary President of the Nippon Badminton Association. As a passionate lover of culture and sports, it is a great honor and a great pleasure for all those involved in badminton to be instructed by Her Imperial Highness, who has deep friendships with the international community. We hope to take this opportunity as an encouragement to everyone involved. We intend to work together to popularize and promote the sport of badminton, and contribute to the healthy mental and physical development of the nation. We ask for your continued understanding and support."

On November 8th, Princess Tsuguko and UNICEF Caravan visited the Iwate Prefectural Office in Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture. The team explained their activities, current situation of children worldwide, and asked for cooperation. Caravan staff will give lectures at schools.

In fiscal year 2022, more than 146 million yen was raised for UNICEF in the prefecture, and the participation rate for donations at schools was higher than the national average for elementary, junior high, and high schools.

On November 21st, Princess Hisako and Princess Tsuguko and family attended the annual memorial ceremony on the anniversary of Prince Takamado's death at Toshimagaoka Cemetery in Bunkyo, Tokyo.

Other attendees included Princess Yohko, Noriko Senge, Ayako and Kei Moriya with their sons, and Yasuko and Tadateru Konoe.

ETA: According to NTV, Princess Yuriko attended the memorial ceremony at the Takamado residence in the morning. She did not attend the afternoon gravesite ceremony considering the temperature difference and out of an abundance of caution.

After the ceremony, Jo showed grandmother Hisako a stone he picked up. The Moriya family bowed deeply as the royals left.

Without your posts, I and many others would not have a window into the endlessly fascinating life and world of the imperial family. I am grateful for every post you put together.
