How come Prince Akishino's hair is white?Did he dye it or it's grey hair??
I like Princess Masako and Kiko beacuse they are simple and they do look cheerful the way they smile..

why the seating arrangement with the princess so far from the prince, and what is with the center parted hair?

What's going on with Princess Mako and Princess Kako (I was gonna' type Taco, haha) these days?

Cool, Bangkok...you've got really good English!
I see Mako and Kako are not very public...except for the royal family official photographs they're rarely seen.

Why are they all wearing the same dress in the last picture? Why do they have the same sashes? Wouldn't the Empress have a different dress and sash?

Thanks so much for beautiful pictures. I had not seen the ones of her in the little blue and white outfit. Why is it so difficult to get good photos of Aiko?

Very nice.

I think she's a very educated lady, a very good model of a good daughter of a good family.

I agree with you.

but she does not have the sense of a style very well. She always wears cloths like an old lady. I think that she should have colorful cloths on. [/b][/quote]
Do you think she has a boyfriend? If she doesn't, I hope that she finds Royal duties just as fulfilling.

Do many Japanese people also think that it is very hard for her to get married? Is the princess popular or well-respected in Japan?

In additon to what you have said, I think probably there are more bees around her than butterflies. Probably she cannot yet find her true love because as a princess, it's hard for her to know whether a guy really love her as a person but not her position. Also though she has never lived as a civilian but I think it doesn't mean she can't not earn her own bread and live a life without servants as I think most princesses now esp. Japanese princesses are not at all spoiled. I think it would be the best if she could marry a Japanese nobleman or if possible a prince from a Japanese noble family. But her hairstyle and her choice of clothes can really affect her romantic chances.

very splendid pictures! :)

I really adore Peince Akishino's family. They are cheerful and I love their cute eyes!

Thank you for these pictures jun5. I really liked the pictures of the whole family with little Aiko; she looks like such a little star already in her red jumper!

Thank you very much for the great pictures.

TOKYO (AP) - Emperor Akihito delivered his public New Year's message
Thursday, saying he was happy to be celebrating with the thousands
of well-wishers gathered at the Imperial Palace.

Joined by Empress Michiko and members of the royal family, Akihito
waved from the palace's glass-enclosed balcony to a crowd of more
than 15,000 people roaring ``Banzai'' - or long life.

``As we welcome the new year, I am very happy to celebrate together
with you,'' Akihito said in his New Year's message. ``I pray for the
happiness of people in Japan and around the world.''

The crowd below fluttered with rising sun flags as many craned their
necks to catch a glimpse of the royals waving through the bullet-
proof glass.

Twice a year, on the emperor's birthday and for New Year's
festivities, the public is allowed behind the moat-ringed palace
walls.

Tens of thousands were expected to file across the landmark
Nijubashi bridge toward the palace's inner courtyard, where the
emperor delivers his greeting seven times.

Under Japan's postwar constitution, the royal family has no official
political power. But it plays an important symbolic role in society.

I only know a few phrases and words in japanese because a very close friend to me are japanese she lives in Japan but we study together in France. The language intersest me much so who knows maybe one day I will try to learn japanese.

I don't see Masako, is she still ill?
I'm pretty sure Masako's the first woman to the left of the empress.

Are there any more pictures from the New Year's gala for the diplompatic corp?

Thanks!

Sean.~

I saw the event live on TV for the first time!
I was just searching for nice shows then I came up with a Japanese channel and it showed the Royal Family so I sticked through it. There were thousands of people present.

I am just wondering because when Emperor Akihito spoke through the microphone, was that his New Year's Greeting or his New Year's Speech? Just like Q Margrethe??

I have also another question, when does the Emperor give his speech? New Year or Christmas??? :)

I saw it too, as we have a multicutlural channel here in Vancouver (actually we have several). I got to watch the funeral of Empress Nagako too, King Car's 50th Birthday, Queen Henrik's 60th Birthday, Queen Margarethe's & Prince Henerik's 25th anniversary, Queen Margarethe's Jubilee, and Joachim and Alexandra's wedding. Alas, they've ended their Scandanavian television programing, so no more royal events from there. I do get TV5 though.

Anyway, I'm always hoping to catch a glimpse of the Imperial family during the Japanese news programs here.

Sean. ~

Have the Princesses Yoko and Hisako experiencing the same problem like Princess Sayako? That's why they're not yet married?? Are they very old now, like 40+? Also, why aren't they wearing the gold sash?
