And a BB video: VIDEO: Mary og Frederik nyder hinanden i Japan | BILLED-BLADET

In the beginning the omnipresent Ulrik Ulriksen remarks that they started their visit to Japan on their engagement day, how was that celebrated?
Frederik responds that they were on the job, and that's fine.

The next couple of minutes is a review of todays events.
then we return to our reporter.
UU asks how it is to be on the job together abroad.
M: "It's always a great pleasure".
F: "It's great to be two and share both delights and challenges. That's what's good about this. But of course the best part is being together".
M: "And then we get to see each other a lot. So that's nice".

The Crown Prince Couple were joined by the Crown Prince of Japan on the visti to Japan's National Archives
The Crown Prince Couple visit Japan’s National Archive to see the exhibition “Japan and Denmark: Valuable Records of the Historical Relation”, which was created in cooperation with the Danish National Archives. The exhibition consists of more than 80 valuable documents and historically preserved materials, all of which document the 150 years of diplomatic relations between Denmark and Japan. Among other things, the exhibition documents the first royal visit between the two nations in 1886, when Prince Fushimi visited Denmark.

Some of the people Frederik met is an elderly couple, whose house was destroyed after the tsunami.
That was shortly after the tsunami, while the couple still lived in a communal shelter.
Now, several years later, the entire neighborhood has been resettled in a brand new neighborhood - in new houses, complete with roughly the same neighbors. (The sense of community is strong in Japan, so relocating entire neighborhoods as a bulk, is considered much more important than in most other countries. It's important for the individual harmony of people as well as the neighborhood as a whole).
The husband has admitted to having psychological problems after the tsunami - no wonder!
Frederik recognized them at once, when he saw them and became a warm reunion.

Each year, Frederik symbolically receive a bag of locally grown rice as a token of the appreciation people feel towards his visit and for him keeping in tough, because Frederik has over time followed the rebuilding and resettling process.
So Frederik has a following who can only be compared to Greenland - and certain parts of California - in regards to their personal devotion towards him.

:previous: Yes, this trip is very much in anticipation of the upcoming free-trade agreement between EU and Japan, which could mean an increase in the Danish export to Japan with up to 50 %.
It's Danish Industry which is behind that figure and they are notoriously conservative in their estimations.

I like Mary's outfit, a very Japanese-inspired style.

Daily Mail, mostly on Mary's kimono-dress and Frederik playing a lot of soccer - and apparently nothing else.

F&M have a busy programme! But so so well, with charm and well prepared.

Danish succesful businessman, Christian Stadil, (Hummel) has some very positive things to say after Crown Princess Mary visited him today:
https://www.instagram.com/p/BaHGub1gfeU/

"We had the pleasure of having our great; kind as well as very skillful H.R.H Crown Princess Mary paying our small booth a visit here in Tokyo. If there is anyone that still has doubts about the monarchy - I can just say that they do a hell of a good job for
for Denmark in terms of nation branding and when it comes to the promotion of Danish values and companies.

We have tangibly seen and experienced here in Tokyo that chairmen and CEO’s from some of Japans biggest companies being customers of ours, they show up and give us the time of day, and this only because of the presence of The Crown Prince Couple Mary and Frederik.

Moreover, it makes me proud to be a Dane when I see how approachable an unformal our royals are, as compared to here in Japan where the Royals still have somewhat of a god-like status. When we high five The Crown Prince Frederik, or the likes, the Japanese are chocked and envious. Well done!

For those who may wonder, according to BB Crown Princess Masako was waiting inside. So CP Naruhito was not alone.

No doubt! That's the kind of photos you send back to your kids. ?

Wow! I've enjoyed catching up on all the photos and videos of this seemingly jam packed tour. Frederik and Mary never fail to shine on these sorts of trips. They're always natural and at ease, both with each other and everyone they meet, whether it's the Japanese Crown Prince or a group of school kids.

I was also very happy to see CP Masako greeting them on arrival, and hear of her presence later in the trip, too. She looks well and very pleased to see the Danish CP couple. I hope for Masako, personally, that she's feeling better, and I also hope we get to see her participating more in official life in the future.

Day 5 (and last day)

Here is a BB video of M&F visiting a class of giggling school children. VIDEO: Mary og Frederik lærte japanske børn et helt særligt dansk ord | BILLED-BLADET

Our man in Japan, the Ulrik Ulriksen, informs his spellbound readers that M&F taught the children to say goodbye in Danish, as we can see towards the end of the video.
Weeeell, I think the result was a bit mixed. ?

And in case you are wondering: Farvel = literally farewell, but best translated to goodbye.

Very cute scenes with the kids. They also seem to have a nice rapport with the Japanese CP couple.
This has been a jam packed visit for both of them, and I've enjoyed following it very much. Thank you to everyone who took the time to post pictures, videos, articles, etc.
