I don't think sophie and Kate have the same coat. Sophie's does not suit her at all, way too much.
Kate looks very nice in that hat, I like the peek of blouse ruffle, earrings, and poppie brooch which was a gift as I recall. The coat must be a recycle as you can see she can barely button it.

I really love this coat - the fit and style really look good on her. Would like to know what dress (or blouse) she's wearing underneath.

Sophie and Kate's coats do look similar, but they seem to be made of different material.

The edging to the blouse we can see peeping through looks very nice. I like the whole look. The slightly fuller face which is particularly noticeable from yesterday's pictures suits her very well.

New baby blue coat by Matthew Williamson & old boots for Kate. I like the coat but honestly, how many coats does she own? She could have easily recycled one. Rest is same old (posture, flying hair in the wind)

good lord, can you imagine how many coats HM owns? Or Sophie? Or Mary? or Victoria? They all must have insane closets (that I would love to see).

I don't mind the coat at all, even though I don't like long coats. I thought she looked absolutely lovely!

As for today,

Queen leads Britain in Remembrance Sunday service | Daily Mail Online

I don't quite care for the coat on the model, but it appears to look good on Kate. I love her poppy brooch. (I also love Sophie's as well)

Catherine is also looking very classy. Forgot to say. :)

She looks lovely. That coat is beautiful, well made, and timeless.

Sophie is wearing what look like the same coat. They're both devotees of Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.

They are both wearing McQueen, but different versions of the same coat. Without a full photo, it's hard to tell if one is wearing the long version or the short version. But they're at least different textures.

Sophie's coat seems shinier than Kate's. Also without knowing the context of when the photos are taken and what's going on in the service, it makes it hard to speculate what the person is feeling.

It's great that Catherine could attend the remembrance service today. From what I can see, I love her coat. It's smart but simple and appropriate for the occasion. However, I'm not a huge fan of her hat, as it looks a little odd to me and it's also just not really my cup of tea.

Catherine looked very classy and elegant at today's event. I love her hat and earrings too.

From what we can see, I love this coat and it looked great on her. But I'll always hate this hat.

As far as I can see both Catherine and Camilla would have looked better reprising last year's dresses/coats and rehabing any other black hats in their closets. Both hats have seen their day, and some!

I think the black ruffle facing the coat collar was very effective however, I think the deep V was a little too deep for this or any other occasion.

I prefer today's ensemble.

I do too. Last year's coat had a bit too much going on, while this year's choice is a lot simpler, and in my opinion, more effective, if you will. I don't think the neckline of the coat is too deep. You can't see her cleavage, so it's not immodest. She is dressed in a conservative manner. I really don't see the problem.

I don't think Kate's neckline is too deep. In fact, her neckline is no deeper than Camilla's.

Thanks for the info on the coats, GomdNatt.

I liked last year's coat- but not the beret.

Lovely coat and whether it's the short o long version, it doesn't matter since both lengths are really nice. I don't like her hat and it sits weird.

Catherine's blue coat is nice, but it's a coat.

Black is black but that half fascinator half hat thing has seen it's day now.

:previous: I heartily agree! The only redeeming thing about that hat is that it is black. Catherine has quite a collection of hats and for an occasion like this I would love to have seen her recycle the hat she wore to William's Passing Out Parade at Sandhurst. Now that was a hat that she wore with style and flair!

That is the only hat I've ever liked on Catherine!

The reason the V is so deep on Catherine's coat compared to Sophie's is because the buttons on Catherine's have been moved to deal with her weight gain. If you look carefully to the right in the photo, you can even see the threads from the previous location of the button. If Catherine is going to insist on buying regular fashions instead of real maternity clothes, she should find a better tailor. There was another coat back when she was pregnant with George, that had clearly had the buttons moved because you could still see the imprint of the old location.

Wow, good eye, it is hard to see with the black but there. If the buttons were where they started, the neckline would be closed up. How could they not take out the threads!

They probably didn't think anyone would notice something so miniscule. I mean, you'd have to be studying every tiny detail on her coat to even see it.

As someone who knows about sewing and tailoring, it is just good form, finishing the job, like hanging up your coat when you come in instead of flinging it.

I get it. Personally, I'm not going to get bent out of shape for a few stray threads that most people won't even notice.

This could be her last pregnancy. Why invest in maternity wear so early if you can use normal clothes? The buttons were probably moved by Angela Kelly's in house BP sewing team. She did the button trick with the green St Patty's day coat when carrying Cheeks. Why not do it again for Cheeks the Sequel.

:previous: Well I didn't notice and when Lady Marlboro pointed it out and Frelinghighness endorsed it, I went back and looked closely and I think she is right.

But while not everyone would notice a thread, it explained the style and cut of the coat and (to me) the fact that the V was a little too low, especially with Sophie standing right there wearing the same coat.

And yes Lady Marlboro, I do remember the same thing happening when she was pregnant with George.

That hat could have been a rental. Has it ever been wore again?

Apparently, the hat from William's garter installation and the wedding right before the engagement announcement were rentals.

Thrifty Kate Middleton's rented her hats, and now you could own one (for a sum) - Style - TODAY.com
Darn, that navy and white was one of my favourite hats that she has worn. I do hope that black from Sandhurst wasn't a rental because she really did rock that look.
