Needle and Thread are a great choice for Kate. Really love their clothing.

I like most of this dress. The color is lovely and seems to suit the event. The part I don't care for is the bottom of the skirt. I dislike that the net or whatever over-skirt is longer than the part underneath by so much and the net is just cut off making it look unfinished to my eye. If the length difference was about an inch I wouldn't have as much trouble with it. I realize this is the current fashion, but I don't like it.

A very elegant Duchess last night! Ilike the dress!

Not lace-it is sequined tulle.

She looks great-a wonderful look for the hostess.

Actually contains both lace and tule, and the entire look is meant to be inspired by vintage lace.

sadly she could have switched dresses Sophie and they both could look age appropriate. It's not timeless, simply another aging lace dress for her closet.

Well maybe she will be like Anne abd recycle clothes thirty years later. Many Of her dresses will still suit her :flowers:

A very elegant appearance from the Duchess. The dress and it’s beautiful accessorised items tick all the right boxes but I agree the dresses she currently favours are rather ageing and a little predictable. That said, I bet the dress looks beautiful ‘in the flesh’ .

She looks very old-school movie-starrish in this and I'm glad she left her hair down-really fabulous look for her in my all-time favorite color on royal ladies!

AS long as she is comfortable, that is all that matters.

BAFTA attendees have been asked to rewear old dresses on the red carpet or choose a sustainable option.

I wonder if Catherine will follow suit. She rewears her gowns regularly, but I think she’s always worn a new dress for the BAFTAs before.
If she does, my top picks are (with some new-to-her jewelry):

Yes, I loved this dress:wub:.

It and the first blue one I listed were worn on tours and I really hope Catherine hasn’t relegated them to '‘not for the UK’’ section of her closet. She does a lot of themed dressing on tours, so some clothes don’t travel well, but I think most would work fine in the UK.
Also two shorter dresses from tours I hope get another chance to shine:

The velvet black would be my choice if she did re-wear one.
I would also love her to re-wear this one, https://d.ibtimes.co.uk/en/full/273105/william-kate-our-greatest-team-rises-event-london.jpg

This whole re-wearing of dressing, is appreciated but rather futile considering the industry in my opinion. I hope she doesn't get criticised if she does wear a new one, the same thing as the colour issue a couple of years ago.

Another great dress, and an example of a dress she’s worn a couple of times already.
I think we can be sure that she will be criticised by some people whatever she does.

Remember the gorgeous lavender one she worn in the U.S. after they got married? I would LOVE to see that one again too...but I guess we never will at this rate.

The blue one in Germany too...loved that one as well.

The fit on that black velvet gown is astounding!

I love all of these dresses, and would be thrilled to see any of them again, although the blue and the white ones she wore on the India tour would be at the top of my list.

If by criticism you mean people saying anything but she is stunning, beautiful epitome of grace, the ideal image of womanly beauty (sure I missed a few) yes I agree. Not liking someone’s fashion choices isn’t criticism. It’s fashion.

But yeah when inviters are specifically asked to follow a dress code, it does seem obtuse at best to ignore it. Especially when a few dozen gowns you can recycle.

She has a number of lovely gowns some she only wore once or long time ago. Different jewelry and styling works miracles.

No, I meant that if she wears a repeat some in media will say that she is royal and should be above these rules and if she doesn’t wear a repeat some in media will say that she doesn’t care about the environment.

In case you missed it, I’m actually not a stan of any royal and that kind of thinking doesn’t even occur to me. Interesting that it’s something you would assume about others.

This is a dress I hope Catherine repeats quite often. It has a certain "wow" factor to it. Its a bit alluding to being a period design yet modern. Simple yet elegant. I especially love the fuller skirt on Catherine because then when she walks, she looks like she's actually floating across the floor. ?
