Our Princess Royal, Princess Anne, often gets overlooked in the fashion stakes which I find annoying because I have to go hunting for photos and so often she really quietly, knocks it out of the park, this ensemble is a case in point. Anne wears clothes that suit her and grew out of being a dedicated follower of fashion when she married and juggled her career and her home.
But while she is a true child her age, she is also sensible and thrifty. I roll my eyes every time someone points out that an item of clothing has been worn at least half a dozen times and is therefore, passed its use by date, I want to bang my head against the wall. I mean, how many times have most of us purchased an elegant and well-made coat or dress, worn it a few times and then sent it off to the OP Shop? Not many I should imagine.
The most elegant and comfortable cape I own is made from a very fine, almost boucele looking, 100% wool and I am not exaggerating when I say it is still as good as the day it was purchased in the late 70's/early eighties, and you can bet I'll not be tossing it any time soon. Pit that against "fast fashion" which is mostly synthetic or blends and is made to self-destruct within the year!
