Daniel today, turtleneck shirt with a double breasted coat
https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...76&oe=5E963E6D
I just don't like this look, he looks like he is plotting something LOL ...

but the fashion "loser" today is Haakon with his galoshes over his ugly brown shoes
https://www.vg.no/nyheter/innenriks/...0sFX867I3VwUmc
I mean why? there has to be better weather appropriate shoes. The rest of the outfit is not much help either
https://www.kongehuset.no/aim/kongeh...67ad168f6d.jpg

Luckily, I can count on Frederik. Nice suit, with a nice tie to complete his outfit

polesco, I will have to tell my grandfather the shoemaker about Crown Prince Haakon's galoshes over his shoes. Grandfather may have an idea!

I had some of those when I was in elementary school. We called them rubbers back then (early 1960s). My mom, grandmother and aunts had some that had a hole at the heel so they could be worn over high heels. Galoshes were rubber rain or snow boots. Maybe it was an American thing.

WAAH!

Sorry. What a shock!

Haakon's shoes are officially the ugliest footwear in the history of Norway.
There are people who use bits of old car-tires as shoes, and tie them to their feet with strings who will exclaim: "These are some seriously ugly shoes! Good they ain't mine!"

Turtlenecks are not for men. They were never intended to be worn by men. No man would ever invent a turtleneck sweater. They were invented by wives who have a serious grudge on their husbands.
That all turtleneck sweaters weren't burned on a bonfire, along with bras back in the 70's is a historical mistake that has come back to haunt us today, as we can see with poor Daniel.
Daniel must at some point have said something unfortunate about Victoria's hips and this is his punishment.
He has, as any good Swede would do, put on an otherwise stylish double-breasted suit - but the result is a mess!
You can see how uncomfortable he feels, how he pines for a boring tie and a bland shirt. - Poor Daniel.

The only ones who can turtleneck wear sweaters (and we can discuss whether they even qualify as men...) are avant-garde authors. In fact turtleneck sweaters are required at gatherings consisting of avant garde authors and artists as well movie critics who are particularly fond of French noir movies.
Here they will prance around holding a glass of wine, wearing their turtleneck sweaters looking suitable philosophical whenever one of them utter incomprehensible sentences. - But they are an sociological subgroup.

Daniel is not an avant garde author, nor is he a movie critic, ergo he should never be put in a turtleneck sweater. It cruelty! Evil!

Yes, this is an American thing. Grandfather the shoemaker recommends Florsheim shoes.

What happend to Willem-Alexander (see also this picture later today); did he shrink between buying his suit and wearing it; did he forget to put his belt on or just not pull it up enough?

My grandfather the shoemaker can make some splendid leather belts for King Willem-Alexander.

Frederik once again rocking out in a turtleneck sweater. His 50th birthday pics and this are the only exceptions of acceptable turtlenecks sweaters usage Only causal settings and in the comfort of your own home.

And his boots! lovely!

and as always, to complete the great fashion look, bring your lovely wife and cute kids, it always helps

A warm sweater is always acceptable, so yes Frederik looks here.

But thin turtlenecks is the work of the Devil! Or man-hating feminists.

A sweater, that is cool: https://shop7964.hstatic.dk/upload_d...rre-strik..jpg

A turtleneck, that should never be mentioned together with words like masculinity or flattering: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/pr..._JvMfHV1RN9X1g

See the difference?

So if you want to punish your husband, father, son, brother or boyfriend, buy him a turtleneck.
But if you love him, buy him a nice warm sweater.

You are right Muhler, Frederik looks sweet.

Unfortunately today, Haakon felt the need to reassure us that his trusty old and ugly shoes are still with him.

Those green corduroy trousers look like they are very, very old and are those cuffs at the bottom?

Oh well, he's probably worn them more in the last couple of weeks more than he had in all the time since he's owned them.

The suede loafers are really nice and a definite option over slippers indoors.

Those trousers look to have turn-ups, not uncommon IMO.

Given the amount of time C&C spend at Birkhall every year, I am sure this smart casual wardrobe does get a fair few outings every year.

The black socks seem a bit out of place...
