The Irish Princess by Elizabeth Chadwick

A new insight and biography into the life of a largely unknown and forgotten 12th century Irish Princess 'Aoife/Eva of Leinster'
The daughter of Diarmait (Dermot) King Of Leinster who having being deposed invited a Normans army to Ireland to help him reclaim his kingdom and had his daughter Aoife married off to the Norman Lord 'Strongbow' (Richard de Clare, 2nd Earl of Pembroke) as part of the alliance.
Soon after the wedding the Norman Invasion of Ireland began .
Much of the European Nobility and monarchs of both Scotland/England are descendants of Aoife and Strongbow .

It's on my Amazon wishlist - I love Elizabeth Chadwick's books - but I'm waiting in the hope that the price will come down :) . The paperback isn't out until April … although I've got so many books waiting to be read that I probably wouldn't get round to it before then anyway!

Aoife of Leinster is one of those historical figures that has been sadly neglected and I can't think of anyone better than Elizabeth Chadwick do do the Princess some justice.

Alison Weir does an excellent job too, just finished reading her book on the Princes in the Tower.

I have this Irish Princess book on my saved list.
