Accoring to Vorsten, the queen always travels to these UN functions without a hairdresser, dresser and lady-in-waiting. She is usually accompanied by security, her personal secretary and an adjudant.
The visit is planned by the local UN quarters, UN employees in New York (the article names them 'Máxima's employees in NY'), the Dutch embassy and the host government. The planning is detailed to 5 minutes or sometimes even to the minute, as was the case in Bogor.
The adjudant is expected to keep an eye on the time scheduele. Five minutes before the end of a meeting he/she seeks eye contact with the queen so HM is able to look at a way to finish the conversation. It was not possible for the adjudant to walk into the meeting the queen had with the president Widodo, which meant that the meeting lasted 15 minutes longer than planned.

In her press meeting after the visit, the queen spoke about the big improvements and ambitious plans for increasing financial access in Indonesia from 36% now to 75% in 2019. This project was explained by president Widodo. The queen claimed that banks and financial services would be able to play a significant role in improving the lives of many Indonesians, 40% of which live below the poverty thresold. She also mentioned that Indonesia was a unique case; the country contains 1000s of islands which is an extra challange. It also meant that it takes a longer time to visit more remote parts, which HM hoped to do at a later occassion.

The Queen met president and Mrs. Widodo in the presidential palace, which was built in 1744 as 'Huis Buitenzorg' and served as the mansion of the Dutch governors of the former Dutch East Indies.

The conference is n the 11th and 12th of October, so sadly that means that the journalists were correct and she will not be able to receive the Duchess of Cambridge on the 11th.

It is also just politesse. Keeping up appearances for some photogenic moments with a Queen. We do not know how serious she is taken by the CEO's of the IMF, the World Bank and their likes.

Yesterday, October 9, Queen Máxima spoke during a Wim Duisenberg lecture at the annual meeting of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund in Washington DC. Here's a pic and a copy of her speech in English:

i am glad you confirm that! i would love to for you to expand how you know she is taken seriously on the matter. she does strike me as someone who particularly knows the subject and works hard on it. her background in finance probably helps.
i think her appointment by the UN secretary himself as his Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development is a true indication of this. this is not like one of those 'UN goodwill ambassador' positions where they just need a pretty face that will attract the media. maxima has clearly earned it. to my knowledge, no other royals in UN positions have had the honor of being chosen by the UN secretary general.
links about her visit to argentina today and tomorrow:
maxima's agenda includes a press conference on microcredits at university UCA and will meet with the president the next day.
