She didn't say that Maxima is fat, but someone with some weight is everything less slim.
Compared with Rania, Letizia or Mary, Maxima is fat. But that's not a problem for me, because Maxima is my favorit Royal Princess!! :)

Let's not use the word 'fat' which is causing arguments, lets use 'naturally well endowed' which doesn't have a negative connotation and thus not cause arguments and we can all be happy...:)

I don't think Maxima is so much fat, as she hasn't yet lost the weight she gained during her pregnancy. She looks healthy (well other then her hair!). I think it's nice to see full figured women in the spotlight as well. Maxima is a good role model for those in her country, and by not being stick thin it makes it okay for them to not be stick thin.
I don't think Catherine was trying to give a half compliment in any way. She was stating a fact, and she never said that the weight Maxima carries is a bad thing, just that she's gained some. And while comments like that can sometimes be what prompts a person into an eating disorder, it is not why they have their food issues. I myself am I a "recovering" anorexic, and while I tried to blame it on society's views for a while, the reason I was the way I was had everything to do with me and my need for some sort of control in my life and my psyche-not because the actors and actresses of the world looked smaller then me. So while comments like that can hurt, they aren't the biggest reason people do what they do, they are the breaking point for people who are already at a loss for what to do in their lives.
From the view we get of her, Maxima seems happy and self-confident, I don't think she minds the weight, or she would have lost it by now. She's happy with who she is and where she is, so it shouldn't matter to anyone whether the comment was made just out of a fact or in mean spirit...

Maxima's weight often fluctuates. There are times she's a bit fatter, and times she's a bit thinner. There's nothing wrong with saying so. If you automatically consider anything being said about gaining weight as negative, then you're creating a problem yourself.

It doesn’t really matter how much she weighs. Not everyone in this world is going to look like a supermodel; it’s just the way it is, everyone is different. I personally don’t think she is ‘fat’, it’s just that everyone is so used to seeing everyone with not an ounce of fat on their body, that when people are of an average size, they automatically think there is some kind of weight problem. I admire Maxima, and I’m sure everyone else does too. She has a loving husband, a beautiful daughter, and, although I don’t live in the Netherlands, she seems to be doing a wonderful job as Crown Princess. Good on her. :)

To be honest we like that Maxima isn't as thin as the rest of the Crown Princesses....she looks more healthy and like the rest of us Not that the others don't, but still!!!!

Tomorrow the couple will be in Brussels at a gala concert, together with Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien. Is it a full grand gala concert with the jewels or not......I hope so, because gala´s used to be very grand.

No, Catherine didn't say that Maxima was "fat" to all of you who jumped on her bandwagon and are obviously just as ridiculous. Maxima, fat or overweight please! She implied that Maxima's outfit was nice, but that it could have been nicer if only she hadn't looked like she gained weight. What in the world is that? Yes, it is a half-compliment and you would have to be very dense not to get it when someone says something positive then follows with, "but" it tends to be half and half. Here's an idea, once you have said something nice and positive, STOP! Learn to keep ignorant and arrogant comments to yourself. When you give a compliment; give one.
Oh and BTW, to the psychologists and therapists here, I know why people get eating disorders and they get them for various reasons. There is no one reason or one of group of reasons. As I recall, I sited some reasons given to me by the people that I have worked with with eating disorders, not every individual of the world's population from every single background imaginable who has had an eating disorder or known someone who has had one, okay Doctors?
However, the young women that I particularly work with have stated that one thing that many of them share in common is that many of them have been told things along the lines of "you look great, but your ankles or legs (something really stupid) look fat." Sometimes, they get the ever popular, "What's wrong with you're....?" They feel perfectly fine about themselves until people like some of you tell them that they could look so much better and do so much better. The truth is that there is nothing physically wrong with them other than that they aren't as thin as the next person and most of them couldn't possibly be that thin, because their body types are different.
The thing that we always encourage them to do is to stay away from people like some of you here and to get a better class of friends.

I think Maxima is a beautiful woman, period. She has a husband who seems to adore her, plus a healthy lovely baby, and she always looks nice and well-dressed to me. One of the great things about true beauty is that it does NOt depend on dress size or unrealistic images to be shown to the world. Mary, Maxima, Letizia, Rania, et al, are all lovely royal ladies. Their differences are what make them so striking and attractive.

I think this whole discussion about the weight of all the different crown princesses has gotten out of hand. CP Leticiza and CP Mary are critized for being too thin, and the CP Maxima for being too fat. They can't win! I understand that as public figures they are bound to recieve critism about how they look, what they wear, etc. But honestly, I think that discussing what the royals are up to and other news about them is much more important than whether they have gained/losted wieght recently. IMO, until a royal has actually admitted to having a eating disorder and is seeking treatment, discussion about their weight should be kept minimal. Also, I would like to point out that I'm sure many of us have varying issue with their weight and I don't think people need to come to this forum and see discussions on this topic, especially when they deal with it all the time in real life and see it in the media.

Hello! I'm new, in fact, this might be my first post. I've always been fascinated with royalty and just adore Maxima -- she seems to be a lot like "us." Just with money, jewels and a lot more power. LOL!
I'm fighting post-election blues over here in the US, are there any new pics to add to the thread that I can't find stateside?
