Pff Dubai in the middle of a financial crisis! That just seems to out of touch with reality. In my opinion, really appalling.
What a pity the dutch people are forced to pay for such extravanges !!!
But I can't say it surprises me. It's very them to do a thing like that.

What are you talking about "wished for some effect", uhm sorry to break it to you but this is a MESSAGE BOARD where people are allowed to express and voice their opinions about royals, and please save your defensive bullsh*t to yourself, I am allowed to critisize whom I like to and I will continue to do so !
Uhm I'm not talking about the price of the flight, but in case you didn't know Dubai is known for a lavish lifestyle. Your sentences arn't even making sence, I'm not even getting half of what you're saying - Do you know what punctuation is btw?! And actual arguments ?

I understand what you're thinking Avicenna, I just want to say that Dubai is not exactly Afghanistan or Iran.
Of course it's a very strict country but things are changing. This is an interesting article about women and Dubai.

Does seema little odd that they would spend their Euros in such a repressive society, but maybe they got a discount!

Sorry Saga but a lot of people go on vacation to Dubai these days. It's certainly not for only the rich people anymore. A lot of dutch people go there these days as well. And in comparison to certain other arab states, it's pretty modern.

i'm sure the reason why they are visiting is because of the improved connections that their soon to be official trip to the emirates and oman caused. i'm sure TRH were in touch with the sheikh and his family when organizing it and it surely came up that they should visit privately. i wouldn't find that uncommon, considering the dutch couple seem to be quite good friends of a number of royal members.
besides, on the claim that they are spending "taxpayers" money, i'm very afraid that the dutch royal house is quite clear and transparent with what regards their expenditure, so i'm sure that if they wanted "lavish" they are paying it out of their own purse.

This visit was private. They visited their Dutch friends who live in the Emirates. The official visit will start next weekend.

Indeed, Qatar is considering investing more in Lloyds of London and is looking into buying a British soccer team? Qatar is also sending aid to Libya (or they were, yesterday, today is a different day - hard to get flights into Libya right now).
Interestingly, we're hearing here that Gaddafi's $ may be partly in Lloyds.
As to state visits, Qatar is high on many nation's lists of "where to go." The President of Germany appears to be making a state visit to Qatar (and other gulf states) tomorrow (I think).

Is this woman Maxima's best friend? She finished in the same school as Maxima... She lives in Dubai, so WA and M visited maybe her.
