A nice visit by the King on NYE.

I wonder if this is the start of a 2021 PR campaign to improve the image of the king and RF after a year in the Dutch doldrums.

It does look a bit forced, but perhaps it will work for them....

IMO this is a step in the right direction for the King.

About an hour ago the king received the PM at Palace Huis ten Bosch. The PM, who rode his bike from The Hague's city center to the palace, went to the king to resign. The cabinet decided to resign (but will continue with a 'demissionair' status until the elections in May) because of what is known as the 'benefits affair' (parents were treated as serious fraudsters after either they made a small mistake or their daycare center duped them). Only one minister - most directly involved in his role in the former coalition - resigned completely.

Full time line at NOS (in Dutch).

Why o why is the majority not wearing their face masks? The king, however, is, except for when he is seated. Not sure why the thought is that you are immune to the virus when seated.

In Germany it is requested to wear a face mask "if you cannot safely keep a minimum distance of 1.5 meters from others in public spaces", I can imagine it's similar in the Netherlands. They may feel keeping the 1.5 meters distance only is enough and in accordance with the rules. But I share your sentiments.

King Willem-Alexander today also paid a digital working visit to the residential care location Lindendael van Omring in Hoorn:
