The dutch television programme 'Cafe Torino' asked some questions to the crownprince about the Olympics. One of his replies was about his wife, who had to be taught the rules (and charm) of speed skating, but after Willem-Alexander explained she became an even more expressive supporter then the crownprince himself. He also said that Amalia seemed to enjoy the games as well, though she was sometimes cheering 'Holland' when no dutch skater was on the ice
He also said that he gets nervous (& and a 'bow/tie' in the stomach) before a game of a dutch ice skater and that people around him better can not make any jokes or funny remarks.
Though Amalia received four sets of ice skates quickly after her birth she hasn't skated on the ice yet :)

Thank you for your explanation. I'm sure WA wasn't fine with that.

That's wonderful Purple Platinum! You chose such beautiful pictures (& a very appropriate song!). I wish I could have seen W-A & his family on TV at the Olympics, but this is the next best thing! Well done!:)

A very nice video: so nice to see something on them. I saw W-A on NBC's little piece on Dutch speed skating fans the other night and was astonished to hear him speak English so well!:p Nice to see royals other than the British getting some American media attention.

Thanks in advance! :)

Yes, wasn't that a great piece? All about the love(some might say "obsession") that the Dutch have for speed skating. And it was great seeing him too. Some Non-Windsor royals on American tv. Tonight they showed King Carl Gustaf as well. This might be the beginning of a trend...

Well the Dutch and mostly WA's obsession for speed skating is quite understandable. This is a very exciting sport with speed, tactics, team work, individual efforts and luck or bad luck sometimes. The athletes have strange suits I admit but wow are they muscular or what!

I certainly have a deeper appreciation for what they do. The way they go so low around the corners. The endurance on those long races. Very good of them. They are truly athletes.
