There is to be an official coin for the birth of Princess Catherina-Amalia. Queen Beatrix's photo is on the front. On the back there is a picture of Princess Catherina-Amalia. When one turns the coin to one side Prince Willem-Alexander's photo appears and when one turns the coin to the opposite side Princess Maxima's face appears.

Wow, that's really cool! So there are going to be 2 coins of Amalia's birth? Wasn't there one before? This one looks really cool...holographic...I think it's great that the Netherlands is doing this for Amalia's birth. They didn't do this in any other country.

Wow, they're putting a lot into this baby (compared to the babies born recently)! Coat of arms, coin...what else is there?

Some other funny things are:
- A mountain top in Switzerland get the name Piz Amalia, because of the birth of the little princess.
Piz Amalia

- A birth flag for Amalia:
The birth flag

And of course a lot of Amalia-trees, Amalia-cups etc. etc. :flower:

Un technique très extraordinaire!

To get that hologram effect on a metal coin is really an absolute craftmanship by the designers and the Royal Netherlands Mint!

(When you move the coin in various directions, you see the faces of the Prince of Orange, Princess Máxima and -of course- Princess Catharina-Amalia).

I like the text at the other side: "beatrix - queen of the netherlands - grandmother of princess amalia"

Neat. A hologram on a coin. Great idea.

The birth flag is really cute! A good idea!

Maxima looks so lovely.Recently, when they thanked the people, she wore too much make-up.
After her pregnancy maxima looks matured(is this the right word?) and softer than ever,so nice...

This thread has been cleaned up and all broken links have been removed.

Amalia's birth coin was really neat, I wonder if they will do something similar for the next baby?

This thread has been cleaned up. Most of the photo links in this thread are still active, so it's a great thread to review. If you notice, many of us were rooting for her name to be Emma, which ended up being the name of Mabel and Johan Frisco's baby girl. ;)

I'm also going to lock this thread, as it is very old and Amalia is now a year and a half old!
