No, it´s not just you. It´s not only inappropriate for a royal christening. Your shoulders should be covered and I don´t think it was that warm in Norway...
I agree, Pia Haraldson's outfit was inappropriate for a royal christening. The weather is actually quite good in Oslo today. I have not seen much of the sun, but it is has been a warm and beatiful spring day :flower:

According to german TV Haakon was asked of a reporter, if he would be disappointed about the absence of Frederik and Felipe. And then he should have answered (according to them a little bit sulky) "I don´t know...THEY wanted to become godfathers"...has anybody else heard that?!

Thanks everybody for the great pictures of today's special day. :flower:

A bit on the fence about Mette-Marit's choice of hats for this occasion, however. The look is different and it certainly allows for more of Mette-Marit's face to show, but not quite if I love or even like the look.

I thought Victoria of Sweden looked excellent. The colour is not one that she usually wears, but it looks great on her at any rate. Very young and very fresh and so spring like. (The pattern of her jacket and matching purse reminds me of a beatuiful Japanese floral print that one might find on a waiting chair in a lady's room meant for reading or writing letters.) The matching flowers in her hair in lieu of a hat were an added nice touch. (Several pictures of her from this event would make a lovely avatar ...)

Nice to see the King be able to quiet his granddaughter when he held her; and even nicer, that he was able to attend this special occasion and in much better health.

Marius looked cute in his little suit. But isn't it just like a little boy to have his hands deep in his pants pockets while his sister is getting baptised?!

Did not see much of Martha Louise. (More pictures of Victoria's arrival than Martha Louise, Ari and Maud Angelica?) But I did see pictures of Maud Angelica in the church sitting on her dad's lap and she looked absolutely adorable.

And of course, the star of today's occasion, little Ingrid Alexandra looked absolutely adorable, fussiness and all!

Ok, is it just me or is Pia Haraldson's outfit ENTIRELY inappropriate for a royal christening?!!?!? ouch!
:woot:
I totally agree, too. It looked a bit skimpy and revealing for a baptism. I know that Pia is young and maybe she felt that covering herself up a bit more might make her look frumpy or like a matron. But I certainly don't think that is the case. I think her dress was fine, but with a co-ordinating jacket over her dress would've been much more appropriate.

I'd be fussy too if someone was droppng water on me, especially after I went and got dressed up :)

The two little girls (Maud Angelica and Ingrid Alexsandra) are going to be the heartbreakers of the next generation of royals/almost royals.

I absolutely agree with you all on Pia’s dress – and I think it was totally inappropriate for this kind of special occasion (royal christening, AND in a church&#33. Her dress was the kind of dress that you can see at premieres or parties in Hollywood, or maybe some jet set party in Europe – but not at a royal christening! But anyway, I think she will hear this enough from others, so I’ll move on from that topic.

I thought Crown Princess Victoria looked absolutely great in her outfit, very spring like and she looked good in that strong colour. Although I do not like that sweater (or whatever is it) that she was wearing yesterday when Crown Prince Haakon met her at the airport.

Marius was very nice in that suit, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s hat looked funny! :P I haven’t seen very many pictures of Princess Märtha-Louise or Ari Behn, which is a shame – they should cover all guests well.

If anyone is interested, I have posted two articles about the christening in the section for the Royal House of Sweden, under the Crown Princess Victoria section (news).

Gifts poured in for the little princess

Unrelated to this article, I was surprised to see Haakon's aunt, Princess Ragnhild present at the baptism after the comments she made earlier this year in an interview. (See this thread for the comments: Princess Ragnhild's comments.)

Is this a matter of putting up a good family front or are things smoothed over in the family now? Did Princess Ragnhild say anything about Ingrid Alexandra?

The king had mentioned that he hoped his sister and he were still friends, so maybe this was a way to show that they were? And I dare anyone, grouchy princess or not, to say something bad about Ingrid Alexsandra :)

Mette-Marit's sister's called Kristin.
thanks, norwegianne!

talking about pia haraldsen's dress... i'm sure most of the people in the cathedral today felt it wasn't the appropiate one for the situation... didn't she know she was going to a christening? even more... there was a really non elegant photo of her posing... how ugly!!! people who are expected to behave like that souldn't be invited... she also had a very unregal attitude in maud's christening...

First of all, I didn't like the attire of Pia Haraldsen during the christening. It's like she was planning to get all the attention by wearing that dress. The attire was fine in another occasion which would likely require such outfit. Maybe she was thinking that because I am not a royal it is just fine if I would wear this outfit. She may not be one but she should also think of the appropriateness of an outfit to a certain event. The rest looked all very formal.

It seems like Pia Haraldsen wants the spotlight pretty bad. Obviously she isn't of royal birth at all, but with dating Guillaume of Luxembourg and her appearences at the last two christenings it really makes it seem like she is trying to grab some fame.

King Harald's speech.

The president of the Storting also spoke, but I haven't been able to find that speech anywhere yet...
