Of course it would have been lovely if all of the above had been there-but they were not.
So the Heirs who did come took a photo together and I think it's a beautiful one.

Princess Ingrid Alexandra was very poised and confident.
It would be a Joyous occasion if Princess Elisabeth of Belgium has a brand new tiara.

She seems to have been well prepared for her future role and is both comfortable and confident delivering her speech. That is one thing I have always admired about Victoria and Daniel, they are bringing up their daughter in a natural way but having her present at many official engagements. I think growing into the future is so much better than being deluged at 18 as Victoria was.

That is not to say that time and family had healed all wounds, In fact, I rather think they had. And, what a remarkable gift to mark I-A's majority than presenting her with such a beautiful tiara that she wears like a Queen. I have to admit I was initially surprised at the reuse of gowns but then again, a great show of couture straight out of the fashion houses would not be sympathetic to the people of Norway.
The world is coming out of a worldwide pandemic and looks to be heading into a worldwide recession. Now is not the time for conspicuous consumption and many others present had "shopped their closet" or in I-A's case, their mother's closet". I loved CP Mary's tiara and gown very much and hey, what can you say about "big bird".

Still wondering if there was any significance to all the Greek and Bulgarian young folks being there besides family friendship....

I don't think so. Rosario Nadal and Pavlos of Greece are both godparents to Prince Sverre Magnus. Naturally, they are all friends.

Isn’t this the day that Leonor is returning from school? As a mom, I think it is more important for Letizia to be there for her. No one seems to be upset that Phillipe didn’t attend. Felipe is her godfather.

As such I wonder the next time the DRF or SRF is visiting Norway that IA will get a prominent host role, like escorting a foreign royal around for a couple of events?
Or accompany one or both her parents to Sweden or DK on an official visit and have a few roles to practice in a foreign setting. Where she again would be among friends and any mistakes will be forgiven.
The reason I have omitted the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain is that the Nordic monarchies help each other when new members needs practice. We have seen that many times. For example we saw it with Daniel when he was new on the job.

Indeed, the most common is during state visits or official visits.
But I'm not surprised that IA was awarded the Order of the Elephant. Her father received the same order from Queen Margrethe on his 18th birthday on July 20th 1991 (which she attended).
Also Crown Princess Victoria received the Order of the Elephant on her 18th birthday on July 14th 1995, that time probably handed over by Queen Ingrid. At that day she also received the Order of St Olav from her godfather King Harald.
King Carl Gustaf awarded the Order of the Seraphim to Crown Prince Frederik and Haakon on June 2nd 1993. So not their 18th birthdays, but they are at least in the twenties, and not during a state visit.

Victoria and Daniel are raising Estelle the similar way with publicity as Victoria was raised. Victoria handed the Victoria Scholarship on her birthday for the first time when she was eight years old. She has attended the National Day events and the public celebration of The King's birthday as a child just like Estelle. King Carl Gustaf and queen Silvia took their children to movie premieres and they posed with their parents for the press. Victoria inaugurated the Forest House in Skansen with her schoolmates when she was eleven years old. Victoria attended the gala dinner of the Norwegian State Visit to Sweden when she was fourteen years old.

It is just media framing, painting down Letizia as jealous with a grudge against the her cousine Marie-Chantal. From earlier grand events we have seen that Letizia feels perfectly comfortable with her peers.

...a thought: maybe currently speaking english in their family is used most often when talking to Mr. Verrett, and i assume he speaks American english? Often you tend to copy language usage from people you interact with personally..

NRF always speak American English. Harald probably got that when he's in US during WWII, and Haakon had studied in US and has AE accent as well, same for Mette-Marit.

I don´t think it was Prcss Ragnhild`s personal wish for her great niece to receive it, but her family which is both not royal nor will hardly attend any major functions, especially as their mother/ grandmother is long gone.

Not to mention the greatest of all teachers when it comes to languages: TV, movies, music and now of course the Net. - Foreign movies are subtitled in Norway with American productions being dominant, so people tend to learn American-English by ear.

As far as I understood, Princess Astrid said so. I believe she’s a credible and reliable source.

Princess Ragnhild’s children gave the tiara to Princess Ingrid Alexandra as their gift on her 18th birthday. “Princess Ragnhild wanted Ingrid Alexandra to have Grandmother’s tiara,” said Princess Astrid.

Note that the gift from the King and queen , the bracelet Ingrid is wearing, in white gold and diamonds, also has belonged to princess Ragnhild.
Haakon and Marta Lorentzen did attend, and as far as I could see she wore no historic jewellery, so it seems much has been given back.
