Royal Central article with a video from Lørenskog nursing home yesterday:
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette Marit participate in traditional St. Lucia celebration – Royal Central
Quote:
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon and Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette Marit of Norway participated today in the traditional celebration of St. Lucia in Norway. The Crown Prince and Crown Princess chose to celebrate the day together with the elderly residents at the nursing home in Lørenskog, located just outside the capital Oslo.
The Crown Prince and Crown Princess arrived at the nursing home at 11 o’clock and were welcomed by the County Governor of Akershus Valgerd Svarstad Haugland, Mayor of Lørenskog Ragnhild Bergheim and Deputy-Police-chief Arne Jørgen Olafsen. After arrival, the royals received a tour of the nursing home where they greeted many of the people living there. Among other things, they could see the common areas and look at the choir that the elderly here have created.

 TV2 video:
Her får Mette-Marit smakssjokk: – Den skulle nok ikke spises med en gang
Quote:
Mette-Marit gets a taste shock: - It shouldn't be eaten right away:
Crown Princess Mette-Marit got a big surprise when she was going to taste a fresh Curry paste made by youngsters at Frydenberg School in Oslo.
The CP couple visited the school on Thursday and attended a workshop with youngsters:

Nettavisen article with quotes translated by me:
https://www.nettavisen.no/nyheter/ka...423398501.html
Quote:
An eager crown princess took a taste of the fresh green Curry paste and quickly found out that it might be a bit stronger than she had expected.
''Oh, it was very strong!'' Said the crown princess after taking a bite, and then she had to spit it out.
"It tasted very good, but it was very strong. I probably did not quite know what I ate'', she said after the taste buds had gotten calm again.
"It was supposed to be in the casserole and not eaten right away," she said.
The CP couple is strongly engaged in social entrepreneurship. Kompass & Co, which earlier this year started its own catering company based on surplus food while giving young people a job opportunity, is a project that hits the Crown Prince couple right in the heart (sounds a bit odd, but that's the only way a dyslexic like me can translate it).
|
MM also said she was happy to see projects that provide a real offer for youngsters who struggle to find themselves.
And here's a stupid DF article:

 Thanks eya!
More information from the Royal House article you posted - with a summary from me:
Among the many who received prices were:
Terje Våg: Årets ildsjel/the year's enthusiast-soul (handed the price from the CP couple. He helps everyone (as it's described in the review of the candidates). Whether it is like a coach, organizer, caretaker, driver or team leader does not matter. He has a burning commitment for many sports, but athletics is closest to his heart. For 40 years, he has worked as a coach and leader. Årets ildsjel is chosen through woting and jury rating.
The track and field athlete Karsten Warholm: This year's male performer, The name of the year (voted by Norwegians), The athlete's prize (voted by athletes). Yes, 3 prices for this lucky guy.
Handball player Bjarte Myrhol: This year's role model.
Cross-country skier Marit Bjørgen: This year's female performer.
Norwegian football manager Egil «Drillo» Olsen: This year's Honorary award.
He is best known as the manager of the Norway's male national football team from 1990 to 1998 and again from 2009 to 2013.
The ceremony was sent live on NRK1 from 19:55 to 21:05 and again from 21:30 to 22:35.

Riveting article. I can comprehend why the "wartime sailors" were not openly recognized back in those days, but it seems unjustifiable to deny them compensation and medical help and, per the Foreign Minister, to view them all as "nervous wrecks, prone to drunkenness and homelessness" in the postwar period. I'm glad to read that King Olav V apologized for their treatment in 1968.
Quote:
Theyre called krigsseilere in Norwegian, literally wartime sailors who were working on board Norwegian merchant ships sailing outside Norway when their homeland was invaded by Nazi Germany on April 9, 1940. The Germans ordered them to return to Norway or other German-controlled ports in Europe, but the vast majority stayed away, ultimately became part of the controversial Nortraship fleet formed by wealthy Norwegian shipowners, and served the allies and Norways own government in exile in London.
Nortraship became controversial because the seafarers themselves were paid poorly, worked under extremely difficult and dangerous conditions as they tried to dodge torpedoes from German submarines trying to halt the convoys, and then failed to receive the compensation they deserved when the war ended.
[
]
Five survivors of the convoy fleets, all aged 92 to 97 years, fought for years to finally win state support for the establishment of a register to preserve documentation of the seafarers contributions. They noted, in an an open plea to Norwegian politicians in newspaper Aftenposten in 2015, how more than 4,000 of their comrades and colleagues were killed at sea between 1939 and 1940, while serving on board Norways merchant fleet and in the portions of the Norwegian Navy that eluded German control. Many of the roughly 35,000 who survived returned to land with both physical and psychological scars from the horrors they experienced when vessels were blown up at sea and the convoy wasnt allowed to stop and assist. Few received any medical or psychiatric help, and in many cases, their symptoms didnt flare up until years later, in the form of post-traumatic disorders that werent recognized or acknowledged.
