The trip to Ethiopia is listed from the 7 to the 9
"DD.KK.HH. Kronprinsen og Kronprinsessen besøker Etiopia 7.-9. november 2017."
But so far on the agenda, no events are listed on the 8. And already on the 9th at 10am, Haakon is listed as attending a council in Norway

I would imagine that the calendar for the 8th is empty for security reasons. No idea what’s up with 9th. Perhaps a mistake with the announcement.

In a story on the Al Jazeera channel AJ +, crown princess Mette Marit is made as a so-called "white savior", that is, a white person who exploits disadvantaged people to promote themselves.
It was in conjunction with the Norwegian organization Student and academics international assistance fund (SAIH) campaign "How to share the world on social media" that the online media AJ +, owned by the media company Al Jazeera, made a story about so-called "white rescuers".
The chairman of the SAIH work committee, Beathe Øgård, explains the purpose of the campaign, which is, among other things, to teach people not to post pictures where they themselves are put in focus, rather than the needy people who are in the picture.
"What we often see is white, western people traveling to distant lands and taking selfies with ten to twenty African children, placing themselves as the center of the image and playing the main character in the story one is explaining,'' says Øgård in the video.
As an example of this type of pictures, AJ + has used a picture of Crown Princess Mette-Marit who greets an African child.
Øgård emphasizes to VG that it was not SAIH who decided that the image would be used in the video.
VG has also been in contact with the palace about the matter, they have chosen not to comment on it.

Article from Dagbladet - some quotes translated by me:
https://www.dagbladet.no/kultur/vira...empel/68966975
Quote:
The image of the Crown Princess was taken by a press photographer from Getty Images when she was visiting Malawi in 2005. At that time, Mette-Marit was in Malawi to study the major problems surrounding the HIV and AIDS epidemic and to visit hospitals and several Norwegian aid projects.
Over the picture, AJ + has written that "images like this can deprive people of action, dignity and privacy.
However, SAIH, which is behind the original video, does not think that Mette-Marit is any bad role model.
''On the contrary. Mette-Marit has shown a great and genuine commitment in her work as a UNAIDS Special Envoy, and has a lot of expertise. She also contributes to raising people's knowledge of global development issues, something we are very keen on,'' says Beate Øgård, leader of SAIH, to Dagbladet.
She tells that they were surprised that this picture was used.
Q: Is the image representative of what you want to warn against?
''No, this setting is more nuanced as she was visiting to learn more about the HIV/AIDS problem, and it is related to her commitment to developmental problems. It is a picture used to inform about a visit, and now it was taken out of context,'' says Øgård.
"But more generally, we believe that celebrities and other profiles have a responsibility for how they make up the context in which the image is taken and what their role is," she adds.
|
To make a long story short: The picture was taken by Getty Images and not MM or the court, so it was ridiculous and stupid of Al Jazeera to use it.
