Beautiful pictures but... poor them!! Especially the kids and even more Elisabeth.
I agree that she maybe doesn't smile because of her teeth (I had almost the same dentition and at the same age I began to "hide" my teeth) but she seems ennoyed too.
It's their holiday... can't they just be alone for a moment? They already had a hard moment 4 days ago, they have to acclimate to their new status, and I doubt a photoshoot (even 30 minutes) was a good idea...
The reactions from the Belgian are -surprisingly- enthousiastic!

I used to have almost the same dentition as Elisabeth does, so did my brother. We had first to wear a sort of retainer who makes the palate wider ( really painful and you can't speak normally anymore) for a few months, then a normal retainer for keeping it in shape during at least a year, and eventually braces for 2 years.
I'm not a dentist, so I don't know if she has exactly the same as I did, but if yes, she maybe already has the first retainer and we don't see it.

The Children travelled the day before their parents. So the King and the Crown Princess were not in the same flight.
The whole family needs now some rest , they deserve it and I hope without the press !
The King will come back to Belgium to celebrate the 20 years of King's Baudouin's death on July 31 th.

he will surely be a womanizer when he'll grow up. Seriously...he's the perfect Prince Charming.
and about Elisabeth I'm quite sure her family will take her of her teeth (if they're not doing it already) probably waiting for the permanent dentition to be complete. I can totally understand, her being almost a teenager, if she starts being a bit concerned about her look in pictures. but she's not unhappy at all...she looks like having fun during the video

I think Elisabeth is just getting to that age- she'll be 12 this year. I wouldn't have been pleased with all the cameras, especially days after the inauguration where the kids had already been on display.

I think we are exaggerating by saying she is unhappy. She is more serieus than her brothers and sisters but that does not make her unhappy.

I have negative thoughts by the word "womanizer", I rather see a (growing) self-assured boy who will show in the future that he knows how to treat a girl. Not surprising when you have an older sister ánd a younger one.

Exactly, there is difference between being serious and being unhappy. It just shows the general tendency of people drawing conclusions (too soon).

Am I the only one who finds it odd that the newly-minted King and Queen of the Belgians have their first family photo session after the inauguration in France and not in Belgium? Or am I missing something here?

It's their summer photosession, which happens to take place on their vacation in France, last year it was in London, because they were there for the Olympics.
I see no problem to held photoshoots on the place you are staying in.

I'm sorry...when English is not one's first language it's easy to make mistakes, especially when you're in a hurry and don't have time to check on the vocabulary. heartbreaker was the right word. I saw the ceremony last sunday and I noticed how attentive he was to his little sister eleonore, making sure she behaved. so I'm quite sure he'll be a real prince...his parents will the best example for Gabriel and his siblings

I believe you may well be the only one who finds it odd.
There is no constitutional or legal requirement for the new king and his family to hold their first photosession in Belgium. A photosession is always held during the royal family's holiday, and because the holiday is taking place in France and not Belgium, it follows that the photos will be taken in France not Belgium.

Beautiful children and parents. I love their clothing with the different shades of blue. Very relaxed pictures, even the posed pictures look relaxed.

Don't forget that Elizabeth is going through a lot right now. Not only in the family, but puberty. Those hormone changes can be hard for a girl to handle until everything settles down. That may take a couple of years.

i believe you are right. hope her parents are understanding if she just wants to opt out of the family outings and photo shoots when she is feeling gross and moody.
