It is a horrendous crime indeed, among the dead is a child. The driver -a 34 y/o named Paolo F. - who seems to be a fan of fast driving. He was temporarily forbidden to drive in 2017. F. and the co-pilot Nino F. were visiting a dancing in the night but they did not test positive for drugs.

According to a local newspaper from Palencia, they will return again to Spain on Saturday to follow the Jacobean route which they started several years ago.

Philipe and Mathilde of Belgium will come with their children and friends on a private trip to make the Jacobean route between Itero de la Vega and San Nicolás del Real Camino (Palencia) between the 9th and 15th

The towns seem to be 70km apart, so omn average they are walking 10 km a day. That will give them ample time to do other things in the region.

The Royal Family are on holiday on the Croatian island of Mijet. They were spotted on a boat by a Belgian tourist:
"The Palace does not want to confirm that King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and their four children are on holiday on the Croatian island of Mijet - "We do not explain their private movements", it sounds - but the photos that a viewer of RTL sent to the channel show there is no doubt about it. “I had heard a voice I knew,” says the Belgian . “And I recognized the Queen immediately."

These are classic, active and formative holidays I like very much. Better than partying on Ibiza.

The Duchess of Brabant and Prince Emmanuel participated in the Warmathon Brussels running event, part of the 2022 edition of the 'Warmste Week', VRT's annual solidarity campaign, today, December 21. This year's 'Warmste Week' raises money for organisations and projects within the central theme of underprivileged people:

I am looking forward to the interviews. In good Belgian tradition there will be two of them, one for Wallonia and another one for Flanders. It will provide twice as much for us to enjoy I suppose. It will be the first big interview that the Queen gives.
Although the Queen has a strong accent her Dutch is fluent and she does not have to search for words too often. The television channel did decide to subtitle the interview. From a clip in one of the links above it seems that she has a more 'purist' way of talking Dutch then most Flemish (and Dutch) For her office she uses the Dutch word 'bureel' instead of the French word 'bureau'. Though people tend to use the French word, as do the subtitles.
I have seen a few quotes on twitter. Among other things, she repeats something that was said by the late queen Fabiola: "We have two ears and one mouth. If we all will listen twice as much as we talk, the world would be a better place".
A funny anecdote: "Recently I was in a bookshop near the Royal Palace. Someone asked me, ‘Perhaps you can advise me on a book about the royal family.’ I replied, ‘Yes, it’s very difficult.’”
It seems the interviews will be broadcasted not on the state channels of RTBF and VRT but on the commercial channels VTM and RTL TVI. The British RF also started doing this, they do not go automatically to the BBC anymore either.
It seems that much -if not most- of the focus will be on the causes that the Queen supports, among them mental health.
